What it is

Power Parrot - Holle Organic Fruit Puree Pouch, Pear and Apple with Spinach, from the 6th month

Power Parrot is a Holle organic puree pouch for babies from the 6th month. It is pear and apple with spinach, in a resealable 100 g pouch. The fruit and the spinach are Demeter grade, the biodynamic tier above EU Organic, and Holle declares the pouch gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan and made with no added sugar.

This is the green one, and it is the pouch in the range built to put a vegetable in front of a baby early. Pear and apple are 45 percent each, so nine tenths of the pouch is fruit a six-month-old will already recognise. Spinach is the remaining 10 percent. That ratio is the whole design: enough spinach to taste and to colour the puree, not enough to be the thing your baby refuses.

Introducing a green leaf on its own at six months rarely goes well. Spinach is mineral and slightly bitter, and a baby who has had nothing but fruit purees will usually reject it outright. Hidden behind pear and apple it goes down, and that is worth something: Holle presents this pouch as a way to start building a taste for vegetables at the beginning of weaning rather than arguing about it at two.

The recipe is three things and a little lemon juice. Within the 10 percent spinach component, the spinach itself is 99.5 percent and the rest is organic lemon juice concentrate, which is the only acidity regulator in the pouch. There is no added water, no thickener, no starch and no grain, and Holle states the pouch has no added sugar, footnoted to say it naturally contains the fruit's own sugars.

Because there is no cereal in it, Power Parrot is gluten-free and lactose-free, and Holle lists it as vegan. At six months, when grains are usually still being introduced singly, that matters: this pouch brings a vegetable without also bringing a new cereal. The pouch is resealable, the packaging is BPA-free and the cap is recyclable, so as an organic baby snack it travels without a cool pack.

Where it fits

Where this pouch sits in the weaning day

From the 6th month this is a snack or a first course rather than a meal, and its job is the vegetable rather than the calories. One pouch is a small portion of fruit with a green leaf folded in, and at six months the bulk of what a baby needs is still coming from milk, so a pouch sits alongside that.

It is a sensible early pouch because pear and apple are the two fruits most babies meet first, and together they are 90 percent of it. If both have already been given singly and taken well, spinach is the only new thing in here, and it is a tenth of the pouch. Holle places it at six months, which is the earliest age in its pouch range.

Later on it becomes the pouch for the week a toddler has decided against anything green on a plate. Nothing about the puree reads as spinach except the colour, so it keeps working long after the weaning stage it was designed for. At home it also stirs into plain porridge or a vegetable mash without changing the texture.

If you want a pouch that is vegetables rather than fruit

Power Parrot is fruit-led with spinach folded in. For a savoury pouch where vegetables are the whole recipe, Veggie Bunny, carrot and sweet potato with peas is the one in the range, and Fennel Frog, pear with apple and fennel sits between the two.

Serving and storage

How to serve it, and how to store it once opened

Spoon it out, do not let your baby suck on the pouch

Holle's own note on this pouch is to use a spoon to feed the puree and not to let a child suck on the pouch continuously, because prolonged sucking on a sweet puree is what causes tooth decay. Keep the cap out of reach of children, because a cap this size is a choking hazard. The pouch needs no cooking, no water and no warming.

Once opened, this pouch keeps in the fridge for 2 days. Unopened it is shelf-stable, which is the point of a pouch: it travels in a changing bag without a cool pack.

1

Check the pouch first

Look it over before you open it. The cap should be sealed and the pouch should be firm rather than puffed. If it has been punctured in a bag, do not use it.

2

Shake it, then unscrew the cap

A puree can separate slightly as it stands. A short shake before you open it evens out the texture and saves you stirring the bowl.

3

Squeeze it into a bowl

Squeeze out the portion you want rather than feeding from the spout. That is how Holle writes it, and it also lets you see how much your baby has actually taken.

4

Put the cap somewhere safe

The screw cap is small enough to be a choking hazard, and Holle states it should be kept out of reach of children. It goes on the counter, not on the tray.

5

Spoon-feed at your baby's pace

Offer it from the spoon and let your baby set the speed. A pouch fed by squeezing goes down far faster than a baby would take it from a spoon, which is the habit the tooth-decay note is about.

6

Refrigerate or discard the rest

Cap what is left, put it in the fridge, and use it within 2 days. Do not keep a pouch your baby has fed directly from.

What This pouch Why it matters
Preparation None Nothing to measure, mix or heat
How to feed it From a spoon Holle's own instruction on this pouch
Straight from the spout Not continuously Prolonged sucking risks tooth decay
Unopened storage Room temperature Travels without a cool pack
Opened storage 2 days Capped, in the fridge
Keep the cap out of reach. It is a small part and Holle calls it out specifically. Use a spoon to feed this puree, and do not let your child suck on the pouch continuously, because that is what causes tooth decay. Do not use a pouch that is swollen, leaking or past its date.
By percentage

What is in the pouch, by percentage

Two fruits in equal parts and one green leaf. The percentages are the reason it works: 90 percent of the pouch tastes of pear and apple, and the spinach is there in the share that colours it without dominating it.

Ingredient Share of the pouch Certification What it does here
Pear 45% Demeter, biodynamic Half the base, and the sweetness
Apple 45% Demeter, biodynamic The other half of the base
Spinach 10% Demeter, biodynamic The green, and a mineral note

Percentages are Holle's own for this product. Within the 10 percent spinach component, Holle gives the spinach itself as 99.5 percent, the balance being organic lemon juice concentrate, which is the only acidity regulator in the pouch. There is no added water, thickener, starch or grain.

Ingredients and allergens

What is in it

Reproduced from the declaration printed on this pouch. Holle's own current product page for Power Parrot gives the same three percentages and expands the spinach component as spinach 99.5 percent with organic lemon juice concentrate. The panel printed on the pouch you receive is the one that governs.

No added sugar: Holle states the pouch has no added sugar, footnoted to say it contains naturally occurring sugars. Those come from the pear and the apple.

Portions

What one pouch gives you

A pouch is a portion, so there is nothing to calculate. Each pouch holds 100 g, and the figure on the back of the pouch governs.

How you use it Pouch gives Keeps after opening
As a whole snack 1 portion Finish it
Split over two sittings 2 half portions 2 days, capped, in the fridge
Stirred into porridge or a mash 2 to 4 spoonfuls 2 days, capped, in the fridge

Holle publishes no portion count for this pouch, so no number of servings is claimed here. The net weight is 100 g per pouch. The fridge life is Holle's own: 2 days after opening. A pouch your baby has fed from directly should not be kept.

Questions parents ask

Frequently asked questions

From what age can my baby have Power Parrot?

From the 6th month, which is the age on this product and the age Holle publishes for it. It is one of the earliest pouches in the range.

How much is in the pouch?

Each pouch holds 100 g, and the weight printed on the back of the pouch governs.

Will my baby taste the spinach?

A little. Spinach is 10 percent of the pouch and pear and apple are 90 percent, so it reads as a mineral note behind the fruit and as the green colour rather than as a spinach puree.

Is it gluten-free?

Yes. Holle declares this pouch gluten-free, and there is no cereal of any kind in the ingredient list.

Does it contain added sugar?

No sugar is added. Holle states no added sugar and footnotes that the pouch contains naturally occurring sugars, which come from the pear and the apple.

Is the spinach Demeter too, or only the fruit?

All three are Demeter. Holle marks pear, apple and spinach alike as from biodynamic agriculture. The small amount of lemon juice concentrate inside the spinach component is certified organic.

Can my baby feed straight from the pouch?

Holle's instruction is to use a spoon and not to let a child suck on the pouch continuously, because prolonged sucking on a sweet puree is what causes tooth decay. Squeeze it into a bowl and spoon it.

Is it vegan?

Yes. Holle lists this pouch as vegan and declares it lactose-free. There is no milk, egg or honey in it.

Other Holle pouches and what goes with this one

Written from the ingredient, allergen and storage declarations printed on this pouch, checked against Holle's own published product page for Power Parrot - Pear and apple with spinach, which confirms the 6-month age, the same three percentages, the Demeter certification and the gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan declarations, and which supplies the breakdown of the spinach component. The age is taken from the product itself. The net weight is 100 g per pouch. Last reviewed 18 October 2026.
