Stage 2 Baby Formula (6–12 Months)

Stage 2 baby formula is a follow-on milk for babies from around six months, once solid food has started. Compared with a first infant milk it is usually a little higher in iron and protein, and is meant to sit alongside a diet that now includes real meals.

This collection holds every follow-on milk we stock, from HiPP, Holle, Kendamil and others, in cow milk and goat milk.

Is it time to move up?

• There is no deadline. European Stage 1 formulas stay suitable to twelve months. Many parents move at six months; staying on Stage 1 is equally correct.
• Solids come first. Stage 2 assumes your baby is eating food as well as drinking milk. If solids have not started, there is no reason to switch yet.
• Stay in the same range if you can. Moving from Stage 1 to Stage 2 within one brand is the gentlest change.
• Switch gradually. Mixing the old and new formula across several days is easier on a baby’s digestion than changing overnight.

Questions parents ask

Does my baby need Stage 2 at all? No. A follow-on milk is optional. It exists to support a growing baby alongside solids, not because Stage 1 stops being adequate.

Will my baby notice the change? Sometimes. Stage 2 often tastes slightly different and can feel heavier. A few unsettled days are normal; anything more, speak with your pediatrician.
