HiPP Babysanft Lip Care Stick, for children from 1 year
HiPP Babysanft Lip Care Stick is a children's lip balm for ages from 1 year. It is fragrance-free and dye-free, built from organic oils and natural beeswax, and made to stop delicate lips drying out in cold or wind. HiPP makes it without parabens, mineral oil, preservatives or microplastics.
A lip balm for a small child has one job and one hard constraint. The job is to keep a thin, exposed strip of skin from cracking in winter. The constraint is that whatever you put on a toddler's lips gets eaten, slowly and completely. That is the whole reason this stick is formulated the way it is: an organic lip balm list of oils, butters and waxes, with no fragrance, no dye and no preservative.
The base is castor, jojoba and coconut oils with shea butter, held together by three waxes: beeswax, candelilla and carnauba. That is a classic balm build rather than a clever one, and it is what gives the stick enough body to stay solid in a pocket and enough softness to go on without dragging a chapped lip.
The care oils are the part HiPP names: valuable components of organic almonds, which is the sweet almond oil on the panel, with wheat germ oil, soy oil and vitamin E as tocopherol. Every oil, butter and wax on the list except the candelilla carries HiPP's organic-cultivation asterisk, and the candelilla is marked as wild-collected.
What is left out is the specification: no perfume, no dyes, no preservatives, no parabens, no paraffin or mineral oils, and no microplastics or water-soluble synthetic polymers. The packaging is recyclable. As a German baby care product it is the simplest item in the HiPP range, and the one most likely to live in a coat pocket from October to March.
Who this stick is for, and what to check first
HiPP's recommended age for this product is from 1 year, and that is a floor worth respecting rather than a formality. Below a year there is no real need for a lip balm and no reason to introduce one, and HiPP does not date this product for younger babies.
Above a year it is a winter item more than a daily one. Cold air, wind, a cough that means breathing through the mouth, and the habit small children have of licking their lips are what chap them, and all four cluster in the same months. A stick kept in a coat pocket from autumn through spring is how this product is normally used.
There are three things on the panel to check before you buy, and all three are the kind of thing a parent would rather read here than discover later. The stick contains sweet almond oil, wheat germ oil and soy oil. If nut, wheat or soy is something your family avoids, read the panel on the stick you receive before first use. It also contains beeswax, so it is not a vegan product.
One more thing worth knowing before you order
This stick is produced in several different colors and motifs on the case, and it is not possible to choose which one you receive. There are three variations and one arrives at random. The product inside is the same in every case; only the printed sleeve differs. If a particular motif matters to a child, it is worth saying so before you order rather than after.
How to use it
Read this before the first use
For external use only, and for lips. Keep it out of the reach of children when it is not being used: a wound-up stick of balm is a choking risk, and a child left alone with one will usually eat it. Do not use it on broken or bleeding skin. Stop using it if the lips or the skin around them become red or irritated, and speak to your doctor or pharmacist if that does not settle.
HiPP publishes the purpose and the age for this product but no application frequency or quantity. The steps below are general practice for using a lip balm on a small child rather than manufacturer instructions. Follow whatever is printed on the stick you receive.
Wind up only a little
A millimeter or two is plenty. Winding the stick too far up is how the top gets snapped off by a child who grabs it, and the mechanism on a balm this size does not always wind back down cleanly.
Wipe the lips first
Balm goes on better over clean, dry lips than over the remains of lunch. A quick pass with a soft cloth or a wipe makes the difference between a film that stays and one that comes straight off.
Apply a thin, even layer
One pass along the upper lip and one along the lower is enough. A thick layer on a toddler mostly ends up on a sleeve, and there is no benefit to piling it on.
Before going out, not after
The point of a balm is to sit between cold air and thin skin, so the useful moment is at the door on the way out. Re-apply when you come back in if the lips still look dry.
Expect to re-apply
A child eats, drinks and licks their lips, so a balm on a toddler lasts a fraction of the time it lasts on an adult. Several times across a cold day is normal rather than excessive.
Cap it and keep it cool
Replace the cap every time, and keep the stick out of direct sun and away from radiators and car dashboards. A balm built on oils and waxes softens and then slumps if it gets warm.
What is in the lip care stick
The full panel is below. It is short, and it is almost entirely oils, butters and waxes, which is what you want on a product a child will end up swallowing.
Contains almond, wheat and soy, and it is not vegan
The panel carries Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, which is sweet almond oil; Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil, which is wheat germ oil; and Glycine soy oil, which is soy. Read the panel before use if nut, wheat or soy is something your family avoids. It also carries Cera Alba, which is beeswax, so no vegan claim applies to it.
Ingredients and more
Ricinus Communis Seed Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil*, Cocos Nucifera Oil*, Candelilla Cera**, Cera Alba*, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter*, Copernicia Cerifera Cera*, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil*, Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil*, Glycine soy oil, tocopherol.

Allergens: contains sweet almond as Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, wheat as Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil, and soy as Glycine soy oil. Contains beeswax as Cera Alba. A cosmetic carries no statutory allergen declaration, so this is a read-the-label note and not a declaration. Names are given in INCI form, as printed.
This panel is the one carried on this listing for this stick. HiPP's own German product page for this item could not be retrieved while this page was written, so it has not been re-checked against the manufacturer's current published list. The panel printed on the stick you receive is the one that governs, and cosmetic formulations are revised from time to time.
What each entry is doing
| On the panel | What it is | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Ricinus Communis Seed Oil | Castor oil, organic | The base oil, gives the glossy film |
| Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil | Jojoba oil, organic | A light oil that spreads easily |
| Cocos Nucifera Oil | Coconut oil, organic | Softens and carries the other oils |
| Candelilla Cera | Candelilla wax, wild-collected | Plant wax, gives the stick its firmness |
| Cera Alba | Beeswax, organic | Holds the stick solid and seals the lip |
| Butyrospermum Parkii Butter | Shea butter, organic | The rich, conditioning part |
| Copernicia Cerifera Cera | Carnauba wax, organic | The hardest of the three waxes |
| Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil | Sweet almond oil, organic | HiPP's named organic almond component |
| Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil | Wheat germ oil, organic | A care oil, naturally rich in vitamin E |
| Glycine soy oil | Soy oil | A care oil |
| Tocopherol | Vitamin E | Protects the oils from going off |
This is the complete panel rather than a selection from it, so the table above covers every entry. The panel printed on the stick you receive is the one that governs.
What HiPP leaves out of it
On a product that a small child will swallow a little of every time it is used, the exclusions are the specification rather than a marketing afterthought.
- No perfume
- No dyes
- No preservatives
- 0% parabens
- No paraffin or mineral oils
- No microplastics
- No synthetic polymers
- Recyclable packaging
These are HiPP's own statements for this product, as carried on this listing. No microplastics is given by HiPP as free from microplastics and from water-soluble synthetic polymers. No preservatives is consistent with the panel, which carries no preservative entry — a water-free balm of this kind does not need one.
What is not claimed for this product
No vegan, SPF, sun-protection, certified-organic-cosmetic or dermatologically-tested claim is made for this stick, and none should be read into it. It contains beeswax. The organic references belong to the individual oils, butters and waxes carrying HiPP's asterisk, not to the finished product as a certified organic cosmetic. HiPP makes no claim about any skin condition for it, and neither do we. It is not a sunscreen: it offers no stated protection against UV.
What you get
This listing is one lip care stick. The fill weight is not stated on this listing — not in the title, the variant or the product data — and it could not be confirmed from HiPP's own published information while this page was written, so no figure is given here. The weight is printed on the stick.
The case comes in three different printed variations, and the one you receive is random. Only the sleeve differs; the balm inside is identical.
How long one lasts depends entirely on the child, because a toddler licks a balm off faster than the weather takes it off. For context, this is the lip item in a HiPP range where the other products cover different areas:
| HiPP product | Covers | From |
|---|---|---|
| This stick, Lip Care | Lips | 1 year |
| Baby Face and Body Cream | Face and body | Separate product |
| Baby Milk Lotion Sensitive, 350 ml | Body, dry skin | Separate product |
| Face Sunmilk SPF 50+ | Face, UV protection | Separate product |
These are separate HiPP products with separate ingredient panels and separate recommended ages, listed here by area only. No equivalence between their formulas is implied.

Frequently asked questions
From what age can my child use it?
From 1 year, which is HiPP's recommended age for this product. It is not dated for younger babies.
Can I choose the color or the motif?
No. The stick is produced in three printed variations and one arrives at random; it is not possible to select one. The balm inside is the same in every case.
Is it safe if my child eats some of it?
Any lip balm gets partly swallowed, which is why this one is built from oils, butters and waxes with no perfume, no dye and no preservative. That said, it is a cosmetic rather than a food: keep it out of reach between uses, and if a child eats a whole stick, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
Does it contain nuts, wheat or soy?
It contains sweet almond oil, wheat germ oil and soy oil, listed on the panel as Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil and Glycine soy oil. Read the panel before use if any of those is something your family avoids.
Is it vegan?
No. It contains beeswax, listed on the panel as Cera Alba, and no vegan claim is made for it.
Is it fragranced?
No. HiPP states it is without perfume and without dyes, and no Parfum entry appears on the panel.
Does it have an SPF?
No. It is a care balm, not a sun product, and no UV protection is claimed for it. For sun on the face, HiPP makes separate sun care products.
How much does the stick weigh?
The fill weight is not published on this listing and could not be confirmed from HiPP's own information, so we do not state one. It is printed on the stick.

Written from the ingredient panel, product features, recommended age and claim block carried on this listing for the HiPP Babysanft lip care stick, which are HiPP's own text for this product. Only statements carried by that source are made. HiPP's own German product page for this item could not be retrieved while this page was written, so the panel has not been re-checked against the manufacturer's current published list; the panel on your stick governs. The from-1-year age is HiPP's recommended age as carried on the product. The almond, wheat, soy and beeswax notes, and the absence of a preservative and of a Parfum entry, are read directly off the panel above. No fill weight is stated, because none is published on this listing. The three-variation note is this store's own statement about how the item is supplied. Last reviewed 17 October 2026.
