What it is

HiPP Organic Pear Juice, 200 ml, from the 4th month

HiPP Organic Pear Juice is a single-fruit organic baby juice for babies older than 4 months. It is 100 percent fruit juice, made from pear juice from concentrate at 80 percent and pears at 20 percent, with vitamin C, in a 200 ml bottle. It carries no added sugar, no added flavoring and no added coloring agents or preservatives, and it is gluten-free with no added dairy.

What stands out on this label is how little is on it. HiPP sells this one on exactly that basis - accurately assorted, few ingredients - and the declaration bears it out: pear in two forms, plus vitamin C. For a first juice that is the point, because a single fruit is one new thing rather than four.

Pear is one of the mildest fruits used in baby food. It is low in acid, gently sweet and rarely the fruit a baby objects to, which is why pear and apple are where most weaning plans start on both purees and juices.

The split between the two pear entries is worth understanding. 80 percent is pear juice reconstituted from pear juice concentrate and 20 percent is pears, so the declared fruit content is 100 percent and nothing has been watered down beyond what reconstituting the concentrate requires.

The only non-fruit entry is vitamin C, and the pack carries a rich in vitamin C claim on the strength of it. Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system and increases iron absorption; those are the authorized statements for the nutrient, and nothing more is claimed here.

It is also GMO-free in accordance with the EC organic farming regulation, the same framework behind the organic marking, and it carries no added dairy products, which makes it one of the simpler drinks in the range if you are avoiding milk.

Where it fits

Where a single-fruit juice fits

A single-fruit juice is the one to start with if you are starting juice at all. Four fruits in one bottle means four new things arriving together; pear alone means one, so if something disagrees you know what it was. That is the same logic that puts single-grain cereals before mixed muesli.

It is a drink alongside meals rather than instead of them, and it does not replace water or milk. At four months milk is still the main drink and water is what a thirsty baby needs. A juice is a small extra, and it is better offered with or after food than sipped on its own.

What this juice is not is a remedy for anything. No health effect beyond the authorized vitamin C statements is claimed for it, HiPP claims none either, and any question about your baby's digestion belongs with your pediatrician rather than with a product page.

Dilute it, serve it in a cup, keep it to mealtimes

Fruit juice is easier on a baby's teeth diluted, drunk from an open cup, and finished at a mealtime rather than nursed across an afternoon. If you want the mildest possible first juice, this single-fruit pear is the one, and HiPP Organic Mild Apple Juice is the other single-fruit option at the same age.

Preparation

How to serve HiPP Organic Pear Juice

Ready to drink, and best poured out rather than drunk from the bottle

This juice needs no making up. Shake the bottle, pour out the amount you want into a cup, and offer it with or after a meal. Pouring rather than letting a baby drink from the bottle keeps saliva out of what is left, which is what lets the rest of the bottle keep. Refrigerate the bottle once it is open.

Ready to drinkNothing to mix
Pour it outInto a cup, not from the bottle
RefrigerateOnce opened
With a mealRather than sipped all day
1

Shake the bottle

Give it a shake before pouring. A juice with pear puree in it settles in storage.

2

Pour out what you need

Into a cup or a separate bottle, rather than letting your baby drink from the bottle itself. What goes back in the refrigerator should not have been drunk from.

3

Dilute it if you want to

Diluting a baby juice with drinking water lowers the sugar concentration per cup. Check the label on your bottle for the ratio HiPP gives for this product.

4

Serve it in an open cup

A cup means the drink is taken and finished. A spouted lid invites slow sipping, which keeps fruit sugar against the teeth much longer.

5

Offer it with or after food

Fruit sugar does less to teeth when it arrives with a meal than when it is drunk alone between meals.

6

Refrigerate the remainder

Cap the bottle and put it in the refrigerator. Keep an unopened bottle at room temperature, out of direct sunlight.

HiPP does not publish a preparation and storage box for this particular bottle on a page we could read, so the steps above are general safe practice for a ready-to-drink baby juice rather than HiPP's own words, and no dilution ratio or opened-bottle keeping time is quoted here. The label on the bottle in your hand gives both and it governs.

Do not treat juice as a substitute for milk or water. At this age milk is the main drink and water is what a thirsty baby needs. Pour out what you need rather than letting your baby drink from the bottle, refrigerate an opened bottle, and follow the keeping time printed on the label. Always supervise your baby while they are drinking.
One fruit or several

One fruit or several: which juice to start on

HiPP sells single-fruit and multi-fruit juices at the same 4-month age. The difference is not the quality of the juice but how many new fruits arrive at once, and that is what decides which belongs first.

Juice Fruits New things at once Suits
This pear juice Pear only One A first juice, or a baby who has met pear and nothing else
Mild apple juice Apple only One The other single-fruit starting point
Multi-fruit juice Apple, orange, banana, mango Four A baby who has already met each of them

Each bottle carries its own age, ingredients and instructions, and those govern. The ages above are those stated for the products sold beside this one.

Ingredients and allergens

What is in it

Gluten-free, with no added dairy products

Gluten-free and no added dairy products are both stated for this juice, and the recipe is pear with vitamin C, so there is no cereal and no milk in it. The full ingredient and allergy declaration is printed on the bottle and it governs.

Ingredients and more

Ingredients: Fruit juice 100% (pear juice* from pear juice concentrate 80%, pears* 20%), vitamin C.

*from organic production.

Reproduced word for word from the ingredient declaration carried for this bottle, together with the statements carried with it: accurately assorted, few ingredients; no added dairy products; gluten-free; no added sugar; rich in vitamin C; no added flavoring; no added coloring agents and preservatives, as required by law; GMO-free in accordance with the EC organic farming regulation.

Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system and increases iron absorption. Those are the authorized statements for that nutrient, and they are the basis of the rich in vitamin C claim on the pack. Nothing further is claimed for it here.

No added sugar means none has been put in. Pear juice and pear puree both carry sugar naturally, and that is the sugar in the bottle.

HiPP does not publish a nutrition table for this bottle on a page we could read, so no energy, sugar or vitamin C figures per 100 ml are given here and none has been estimated. The panel on the bottle carries them.

Read as a list, that is one fruit in two forms and one vitamin. Nothing is added to sweeten, flavor, color or preserve it.

How far it goes

How much the bottle holds

This is a 200 ml bottle, which converts to about 6.8 fluid ounces of juice served neat. If you dilute it, the drink you get goes further in proportion to how much water you add.

What you are counting Figure Note
Bottle volume 200 ml As sold
In fluid ounces, neat about 6.8 fl oz Arithmetic from the bottle volume
Declared fruit content 100% From the declaration above
Dilution ratio See the label Not published for this bottle on a page we could read
Keeps once opened See the label Refrigerate; the bottle gives the keeping time

Two figures are missing from that table on purpose. HiPP does not publish a dilution ratio or an opened-bottle keeping time for this particular bottle on a page we could read, so rather than borrow the figures from another HiPP juice we have pointed you at the label, which carries both.

No monthly usage figure is given either. How many bottles a baby gets through depends on whether you dilute and how often juice is offered at all, and no sourced figure exists for this product.

Bottle volume is the pack size as sold. The fluid-ounce figure is arithmetic from it. Where the table says to see the label, that is because we could not source the figure, not because it is not printed.

Questions parents ask

Frequently asked questions

From what age can my baby have this juice?

Older than 4 months, which is the age on this product. Milk is still the main drink at that age and water is what a thirsty baby needs, so a juice is a small extra alongside both.

Why choose a single-fruit juice?

Because it introduces one fruit rather than several. If a juice disagrees with your baby, a single-fruit bottle tells you which fruit it was. A multi-fruit juice cannot.

What exactly is in it?

Fruit juice at 100 percent, made up of pear juice from pear juice concentrate at 80 percent and pears at 20 percent, plus vitamin C. That is the whole declaration.

Does it have added sugar?

No sugar is added. No added sugar is stated for this product. The sugar in the bottle is the sugar already in the pear.

What does the vitamin C do?

Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system and increases iron absorption. Those authorized statements are the basis of the rich in vitamin C claim on the pack, and nothing beyond them is claimed here.

How much should I dilute it?

HiPP does not publish a dilution ratio for this particular bottle on a page we could read, so we have not printed one. The label on your bottle gives it. Diluting a baby juice with drinking water is generally the gentler way to serve it at this age.

How many fluid ounces is the bottle?

A 200 ml bottle is about 6.8 fl oz of juice served neat, and more drink than that if you dilute it.

Is it gluten-free and dairy-free?

Gluten-free and no added dairy products are both stated for this product, and the recipe is pear with vitamin C. Read the declaration on your bottle before relying on that for a diagnosed allergy.

How long does it keep once opened?

Refrigerate it once opened and follow the keeping time printed on the label, which we have not reproduced because we could not source it for this bottle. Pour out what you need rather than letting your baby drink from the bottle.

Written from the ingredient declaration carried for this bottle, reproduced above word for word, which is the source of the 100 percent fruit juice content, the 80 percent pear juice from concentrate, the 20 percent pears and the vitamin C, along with the statements carried with it: few ingredients, no added dairy products, gluten-free, no added sugar, rich in vitamin C, no added flavoring, no added coloring agents and preservatives as required by law, and GMO-free under the EC organic farming regulation. The vitamin C statements are the authorized wording for that nutrient and nothing further is claimed for it. The age and the 200 ml bottle size are taken from the product itself, and the fluid-ounce figure is arithmetic from that volume. HiPP publishes no nutrition table, no dilution ratio and no opened-bottle keeping time for this bottle on a page we could read, so none of the three is given here, none has been borrowed from another HiPP juice, and the sections where a parent would look for them point to the label instead. No monthly usage figure is given, because no sourced figure exists for this product. Last reviewed 24 October 2026.
