Prepared as directed, every 100ml provides 66 kcal, 3.5g fat, 1.5g protein, 46mg calcium and 16.1mg DHA sourced from microalgae. The prebiotic is GOS, and the carbohydrate is lactose — there is no maltodextrin, starch or added sugar.

Kendamil publishes a calcium figure that varies between retailers for this tin, and we quote the lower, better-sourced value. We do not publish a carbohydrate figure here because we cannot source one we trust for this exact SKU — the panel printed on your tin is the authority, and we would rather send you to it than print a number we have not verified.

The ingredient deck opens with organic whole milk, organic demineralised whey protein and organic skimmed milk, followed by an organic sunflower, coconut and rapeseed oil blend and organic galacto-oligosaccharides. DHA comes from Schizochytrium microalgae oil and ARA from Mortierella alpina, so there is no fish oil anywhere in the tin. Nucleotides, taurine, choline, inositol and the full EU-mandated vitamin and mineral spread complete the recipe. Allergen: milk.

One claim we will not make: HMOs. Kendamil's marketing for this line mentions an HMO, but the ingredient panel published for this tin lists galacto-oligosaccharides and no named human milk oligosaccharide. Until that is resolved on the label, we describe this formula as GOS prebiotic only. If HMO fortification is what you are shopping for, Kendamil Bio Nature Stage 2 states it explicitly on its own panel.

Why is Kendamil Organic Stage 2 made from whole milk instead of skimmed milk?

Because the fat is where the milk fat globule membrane lives. Kendamil builds this formula on organic whole milk and keeps its natural milk fat in place, rather than skimming the milk and rebuilding the fat entirely from vegetable oils — which is how most follow-on formula is made.

Skimming is not done to harm anything; it is done because a fat blend you build yourself is easier to standardise than one that arrives in the milk. But the membrane that wraps each natural fat globule — a layer of phospholipids and proteins — does not survive that process.
