Pear Pony - Holle Organic Fruit Puree Pouch, Pear, Peach and Raspberries with Spelt, 100 g, from the 6th month
Pear Pony is a Holle organic fruit puree pouch for babies from the 6th month. It is pear, peach and raspberry with a little wholegrain spelt, in a 100 g resealable pouch. The fruit is Demeter grade, the biodynamic tier above EU Organic, and it is made with no added sugar. Because of the spelt, this pouch contains gluten.
Three fruits and one grain. Pear leads at 57.5 percent and sets the mild, slightly grainy sweetness; peach at 30 percent gives it the softer, rounder note; raspberry at 10 percent is the sharp edge and most of the colour. The spelt is only 2.5 percent, and it is there as the thickener, which is why this puree sits a little heavier on a spoon than a fruit-only pouch does.
That small amount of spelt is the single most important thing to know about this pouch. Spelt is a wheat species and it carries gluten, so Holle makes no gluten-free claim for Pear Pony and neither do we. If your baby has not yet had a gluten cereal, this is not the pouch to introduce one with: a cereal is better met on its own, where you can see how it is taken.
Set that aside and the rest is a straightforward fruit puree. There is no added water, no starch, no juice concentrate and no additive in the declaration, and Holle states there is no added sugar, with the footnote that the pouch naturally contains the sugars in the fruit. The pear, peach and spelt are biodynamic; the raspberry is certified organic.
It is also one of the more filling pouches, which is what the grain is for. A puree with a little wholegrain in it holds a baby longer than fruit alone, so as an organic baby snack it does better as a breakfast or a mid-afternoon stop-gap than as a pudding. Unopened the pouch needs no refrigeration, so it travels without a cool pack.

Where it fits
Where this pouch sits in the weaning day
This is a breakfast or a snack rather than a pudding. The wholegrain spelt thickens it and makes it more sustaining than a pure fruit puree, so it does its best work at the start of the day or in the gap before a meal.
Where it fits in the order of introductions is a different question, and it comes down to the spelt. A pouch carrying a gluten cereal is a reasonable step once your baby has already met a gluten grain on its own and taken it well. Before that it is the wrong pack, because two new fruits and a new cereal arriving together is the opposite of how grains are usually introduced.
Once grains are established it becomes an easy pouch to keep in the cupboard. Pear and peach are mild, the raspberry gives it a flavour children ask for, and the texture is thick enough to spoon without running off. It also stirs into plain porridge, where the raspberry does the work of a flavoured cereal without added sugar.
If your baby has not had a gluten cereal yet
Start with a single grain rather than with this pouch, so that you are introducing one new thing at a time. Holle Organic Oats Baby Porridge is the usual single-grain step. For a gluten-free pouch with no cereal in it at all, Zebra Beet, apple and banana with beetroot is also from the 6th month.
Serving and storage
How to serve it, and how to store it once opened
Spoon it out, do not let your baby suck on the pouch
Holle's own note on this pouch is to feed the puree with a spoon and not to let a baby suck continuously, because prolonged sucking on a sweet puree is what causes tooth decay. Keep the screw cap out of reach of children, because a cap this size is a choking hazard. The pouch needs no cooking, no water and no warming.
Once opened, this pouch keeps in the fridge for 2 days. Unopened it is shelf-stable, which is the point of a pouch: it travels in a changing bag without a cool pack.

1
Check the pouch first
Look it over before you open it. The cap should be sealed and the pouch should be firm rather than puffed. If it has been punctured in a bag, do not use it.
2
Shake it, then unscrew the cap
A puree with grain in it settles more than a plain one does. A short shake before you open it brings the texture back together and saves you stirring the bowl.
3
Squeeze it into a bowl
Squeeze out the portion you want rather than feeding from the spout. That is how Holle writes it, and it also lets you see how much your baby has actually taken.
4
Put the cap somewhere safe
The screw cap is small enough to be a choking hazard, and Holle states it should be kept out of reach of children. It goes on the counter, not on the tray.
5
Spoon-feed at your baby's pace
Offer it from the spoon and let your baby set the speed. A pouch fed by squeezing goes down far faster than a baby would take it from a spoon, which is the habit the tooth-decay note is about.
6
Refrigerate or discard the rest
Cap what is left, put it in the fridge, and use it within 2 days. Do not keep a pouch your baby has fed directly from.

Ingredients and allergens
What is in it
Contains gluten, from wholegrain spelt
Spelt is a species of wheat and it contains gluten. Holle makes no gluten-free claim for Pear Pony, and none should be read into the pouch: at 2.5 percent the spelt is a small part of the recipe, but a gluten cereal in a small amount is still a gluten cereal.
No milk, egg, nut, soya or fish appears in the declaration, and Holle lists the pouch as lactose-free and vegan. Holle's standing allergy note applies: for the EU 14 major food allergens, including cereals containing gluten, see ingredients in capital letters, if any.
* from biodynamic farming. ** from organic farming.
Allergens: SPELT, a wheat species, and therefore gluten.
Reproduced from the ingredient declaration printed on this pouch, and matching the four percentages on Holle's own current product page for Pear Pony. Holle's current page lists this pouch from the 8th month, while the age on this product is the 6th month; the pouch and the pack in your hand govern. The panel printed on the pouch you receive is likewise the one that governs.
No added sugar: Holle states the pouch has no added sugar, footnoted to say it contains naturally occurring sugars. Those come from the pear, the peach and the raspberry.

Portions
What one 100 g pouch gives you
A pouch is a portion, so there is no yield to calculate. The grain in it makes this one of the more filling pouches, which is worth knowing when you are deciding whether it is the snack or part of a meal.

Questions parents ask
Frequently asked questions
Is Pear Pony gluten-free?
No. It contains wholegrain spelt, which is a wheat species and carries gluten. Holle makes no gluten-free claim for this pouch and neither do we.
From what age can my baby have it?
From the 6th month, which is the age on this product. Note that it brings a gluten cereal with it, so it suits a baby who has already met a gluten grain on its own.
Why is there grain in a fruit pouch?
The spelt is the thickener. At 2.5 percent it gives the puree enough body to sit on a spoon and makes the pouch more filling than fruit alone, which is why it works as a breakfast.
Does it contain added sugar?
No sugar is added. Holle states no added sugar and footnotes that the pouch contains naturally occurring sugars, which come from the pear, peach and raspberry.
Is the whole pouch Demeter?
The pear, peach and spelt are marked as from biodynamic farming, which is Demeter. The raspberry is marked as from organic farming. Both tiers are certified; Demeter is the stricter of the two.
Can my baby feed straight from the pouch?
Holle's instruction is to feed the puree with a spoon and not to let a baby suck continuously, because prolonged sucking on a sweet puree is what causes tooth decay. Squeeze it into a bowl and spoon it.
How long does it keep once opened?
Two days in the fridge with the cap back on. Unopened it does not need refrigerating at all, which is why it travels well.
Is it vegan?
Yes. Holle lists this pouch as vegan and declares it lactose-free. There is no milk, egg or honey in it, though it does contain a cereal.
Written from the ingredient, allergen and storage declarations printed on this pouch, checked against Holle's own published product page for Pear Pony - Pear, peach and raspberries with spelt, which gives the same four percentages and confirms that no gluten-free claim is made for it. The age and the 100 g pack size are taken from the product itself; Holle's current page lists the pouch from the 8th month and that difference is noted above rather than resolved here. The gluten statement is new on this page: the spelt in the declaration carries gluten and the previous version of this listing said nothing about it. Portion splits are arithmetic on the 100 g pack size and are identified as such. Last reviewed 17 October 2026.
