HiPP Baby Head to Toe Wash Gel with Refill Pack, 800 ml total
This is the same HiPP head-to-toe baby wash gel, bought in 800 ml instead of 400 ml. It is the refill option: a bottle plus a 400 ml refill, or two refills if you already have the bottle at home. The gel is soap-free and eye-mild, washes hair and body in one pass, and the formula is identical to the single bottle.
A refill is a dull idea that pays for itself twice. The first return is the plastic: one bottle topped up once is one bottle instead of two for the same 800 ml of gel, which is a straight halving of what leaves your bathroom. The second is simply not running out, because baby wash is a weekly-habit product rather than an occasional one.
Between daily hair, nightly baths and the days a nappy goes badly wrong, 400 ml goes faster than most parents expect. Keeping the second 400 ml in the cupboard means the bottle gets topped up on a Tuesday instead of going onto a shopping list.
Nothing about the gel changes. It is still soap-free, still formulated to preserve the skin's acid mantle rather than strip it, and still made without parabens, PEG emulsifiers, colorants, essential oils, microplastic particles or fragrances classed as allergens. HiPP states very good skin compatibility for highly sensitive skin, dermatologically confirmed, and describes it as suiting the whole family.
If you have never used this wash gel, this is the wrong listing to start on. Buy one 400 ml bottle first, find out whether your baby's skin likes it, and come back here once you know. Buying 800 ml of something untried is how a cupboard fills with things nobody uses.
Which option on this listing to pick
There are three, and the only question that decides it is whether you already own one of these bottles. A refill is designed to top a bottle up rather than to be used on its own, so two refills with no bottle leaves you nothing to pour them into.
| Option | Gel you get | Bottle included | Pick it if |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 bottle + 1 refill | 800 ml | Yes, one | You want a bottle to use now and 400 ml in the cupboard |
| 2 refill packs | 800 ml | No | You already have the bottle and only want the gel |
| 1 bottle | 400 ml | Yes, one | You only want a single bottle, also sold on its own listing |
Both 800 ml options work out at a lower price per 100 ml than a single 400 ml bottle. Check the current prices in the option selector above, since they change from time to time.
Refilling the bottle
Use the bottle until it is properly empty, then pour the refill straight in. There is no need to wash it out between refills of the same product, and water left in the bottle only dilutes the next 400 ml. Keep the refill sealed and out of reach of children until you need it.
How to wash a baby with it
Read this before the first bath
For external use only. Keep both the bottle and the refill out of reach of children, and do not leave either on the edge of the bath. The gel is eye-mild, which is not the same as having no effect at all, so rinse with clean water if any reaches the eyes. Stop using it if skin becomes red or irritated and ask your doctor or pharmacist if that does not settle. Never leave a baby unattended in or near water.
Everything within reach
Towel, clean clothes and the bottle beside the bath before your baby goes in the water. Never leave a baby alone in or near water.
Into your hand, not onto the baby
A little in your palm or on a soft cloth goes a long way once it meets water. Squeezing it straight on wastes most of it.
Hair first, then the body
Work it gently through fine hair with a hand shielding the forehead so the lather runs back and away from the eyes, then over the skin.
Mind the creases
Neck folds, behind the ears, under the arms and the backs of the knees are where milk and moisture collect. Go gently and do not scrub.
Rinse until nothing slippery is left
Rinse with clean warm water, particularly in the hair and the skin folds, until the skin no longer feels slippery.
Pat dry and moisturise
Pat rather than rub, dry the creases properly, and follow with a baby lotion or cream if your baby's skin tends to dryness.
The six steps above are general practice for bathing a baby rather than instructions published by HiPP for this pack, and they are given as such. The usage text printed on the bottle governs.
What the main ingredients are doing
Sixteen entries, and they are the same in the bottle and in the refill. A cosmetic panel runs in order of quantity, so the water and the four cleansers at the top are what the gel mostly is, and everything from the almond extract down is there in small amounts doing one job each.
| Ingredient, as printed | In plain terms | What it is there for |
|---|---|---|
| Aqua | Water | The base of the gel |
| Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate | A starch-derived humectant | Holds water and gives the gel its body |
| Sodium Cocoamphoacetate | A mild coconut-derived cleanser | One of the soap-free cleansing agents |
| Cocamidopropyl Betaine | A mild coconut-derived cleanser | Cleans and makes the lather |
| Lauryl Glucoside | A sugar-based cleanser | A third mild surfactant, not an SLS |
| Coco-Glucoside | Another sugar-based cleanser | The fourth of the mild surfactants |
| Citric Acid | A pH adjuster | Keeps the gel at a skin-friendly pH, not alkaline |
| Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Seed Extract | Sweet almond seed extract | The almond element of the Babysanft line |
| Glycerin | Glycerol | Holds water in the skin, so it does not feel tight |
| Tocopherol | Vitamin E | Protects the oils in the formula from oxidising |
| Zinc Sulfate | A zinc salt | A skin-conditioning mineral |
| Glyceryl Oleate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides Citrate | Glycerine-derived fatty materials | Soften the wash and keep the formula stable |
| Sodium Chloride | Salt | Thickens the gel |
| Parfum | Fragrance | The delicate scent; no allergen-classed fragrance is used |
The table above groups and translates the main ingredients and is not the full panel, which is given in full below. It is not in the order of the panel. The panel printed on the bottle you receive is the one that governs, and cosmetic formulations are revised from time to time.
The full ingredient panel, and what is left out
Lightly fragranced, not fragrance-free, and it contains almond
The gel carries a delicate fragrance and Parfum is on its panel. HiPP leaves out essential oils and every fragrance classed as an allergen, but this is a lightly scented product rather than an unscented one. If you need fragrance-free, this is not it.
It also contains sweet almond seed extract, listed as Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Seed Extract. No allergen declaration accompanies a cosmetic the way it does a food, so this is a read-the-label note rather than a declaration: read the panel before use if nut allergy runs in your family.

What you get, and how to keep the refill
The two larger options give 800 ml of gel in total, which is the same quantity as two single bottles but in one bottle plus one pouch, or in two pouches if the bottle is already in your bathroom.
| Figure | This listing | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Gel per refill pouch | 400 ml | The same as one bottle |
| Total on the 800 ml options | 800 ml | Bottle plus refill, or two refills |
| Bottles used for 800 ml | 1 | Instead of two, if you refill |
| Baths per bottle | Not claimed | No quantity per wash is published |
No quantity per wash is published for this product, so no number of baths is claimed here and none should be inferred from the volume. Store the bottle closed and the refill sealed, away from direct heat and sunlight, out of reach of children, and follow the dates printed on them.

Frequently asked questions
How much gel is in this pack?
800 ml on either of the two larger options, as a bottle plus a 400 ml refill or as two 400 ml refills. There is also a single-bottle option on this listing at 400 ml.
Can I use a refill without a bottle?
No. A refill is meant to top up a bottle you already have. If you do not own one, choose the bottle-plus-refill option rather than two refills.
Is the gel in the refill the same as in the bottle?
Identical. Same formula, same ingredient panel, same soap-free, eye-mild gel. Only the packaging differs.
Should I buy this or the single bottle?
If you have used this wash gel before, buy here, because it works out at less per 100 ml. If you have not, start with the single 400 ml bottle and move to the refill pack once you know it suits your baby.
Do I need to wash the bottle before refilling it?
Not between refills of the same product. Use it until it is properly empty and pour the next 400 ml straight in, because water left inside only dilutes the gel.
Is it fragrance-free?
No. It has a delicate fragrance and Parfum appears on the panel. It is free from essential oils and from fragrances classed as allergens.
Does it contain nuts?
It contains sweet almond seed extract, listed as Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Seed Extract. Read the full panel above before use if nut allergy is a concern in your family.
Does the refill fit other bottles?
It is intended for this HiPP wash gel bottle. Decanting it into something else works, but keep it clearly labelled and out of reach of children.

Rebuilt from a body that carried a trust-block card, inline styling and a month-only review date. The ingredient panel, the free-from list, the delicate-fragrance statement, the eye-mild statement and the dermatologically-confirmed skin compatibility statement are all reproduced from the declaration and the HiPP wording this listing already published; HiPP's own shop page for this product could not be read here, so no second source corroborates them. The option structure and the 400 ml and 800 ml volumes are taken from the listing itself, and no age is stated on this page because none is published for it. The bathing steps are general practice rather than manufacturer instruction and are labeled as such. No number of baths per bottle is given, because no quantity per wash is published. Fulfilment, price-matching and customer-count claims carried by the previous version have been removed from the body. Last reviewed 17 October 2026.
