What it is

HiPP Organic Forest Fruits Milk and Cereal, 250 g, from the 6th month

HiPP Organic Forest Fruits Milk and Cereal is an organic milk cereal for babies from the 6th month. The milk powder is already in the box, so you make it up with water alone. It is gluten free, the fruit is strawberry and raspberry, and it comes as flakes in a 250 g box carrying calcium, iron, iodine and vitamins A, C, D, E and B1.

The berry flavor is the reason this box gets picked, and it is worth knowing where it comes from. The forest fruit flakes are 2.9 percent of the dry mix and are made from strawberry puree, raspberry puree, a carrot juice concentrate and rice flour. A red beetroot juice powder and a raspberry extract sit alongside them. That is a berry taste built from fruit and vegetable components rather than from an added flavoring.

The grain side is rice flour with corn flour, both gluten-free, which is why HiPP marks this box gluten free. The dairy is a whey product and 13 percent skimmed milk powder, so a prepared bowl is a complete cereal-and-milk course rather than a thickened milk feed.

A single 175 g prepared bowl carries a meaningful share of a day's micronutrients: 172 mg of calcium at 43 percent of the reference amount, 1.7 mg of iron at 28 percent, 18 mg of vitamin C at 72 percent and 0.27 mg of vitamin B1 at 54 percent. That is the real argument for a milk cereal over a plain grain porridge.

It also carries galacto-oligosaccharides from lactose, the prebiotic fiber HiPP sells under the PRAEBIOTIK name, and vegetable oils from sunflower and rapeseed, which HiPP lists as the source of the omega-3 ALA in the box. As a European baby cereal it is the berry option in a range that is otherwise mostly apple and plain grain.

Where it fits

Where this one sits in the weaning day

From the 6th month a baby is usually past first tastes and into actual meals, and this is a box for that stage. Berries are a stronger flavor than apple or pear, so it tends to land well with a baby who has started to find plain cereal boring, and the 175 g prepared portion is a real bowl rather than a few spoonfuls.

It is not a starting cereal and the 6-month age is part of why. One box brings rice, corn, cow's milk protein, whey, lactose, strawberry and raspberry at the same time, and berries in particular are usually introduced on their own rather than inside a blend. Meet each of those first, a few days apart, and then this box is a straightforward next step.

The portion grows with your baby rather than the product changing. HiPP publishes 40 g of flakes from the 6th month and 45 g from the 8th, with a smaller 35 g option alongside them, each with its own water measure.

If berries have not been introduced yet

Give them on their own first. A plain gluten-free milk cereal such as HiPP Organic Buckwheat Milk Cereal covers the same meal without fruit in it, and HiPP's Organic 100% Rice Grain Porridge, 200 g is the single grain this box is built on, met on its own.

Preparation

How to prepare HiPP Forest Fruits Milk and Cereal

This porridge is prepared with water only

Do not make it up with milk or with formula. The milk powder is already in the flakes and the quantities HiPP publishes assume water. Boil fresh water and let it cool to about 50 degrees Celsius before it meets the powder, check the temperature yourself before your baby does, make every bowl fresh, and feed it with a spoon.

50 °CCool the water to this
40 gFlakes, from the 6th month
135 mlWater, from the 6th month
175 gPrepared portion
1

Boil the water

Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to about 50 degrees Celsius. This is the only liquid the recipe calls for.

2

Measure the flakes into the bowl

40 g, about 3 to 4 spoons, from the 6th month. 45 g, about 4 spoons, from the 8th. HiPP also gives a smaller 35 g portion for a lighter bowl.

3

Measure the water

135 ml, 150 ml or 120 ml to match the flake quantity above. Measure it rather than pouring by eye, because the consistency is what the ratio sets.

4

Pour the water over the powder and stir

The water goes onto the flakes rather than the flakes into the water, and it is stirred straight through.

5

Let it stand

Leave it until it reaches the consistency you want. The flakes take the water up as they sit, so a looser bowl means serving sooner.

6

Check the temperature, then spoon-feed

Check it yourself before the bowl reaches your baby. Prepare a fresh portion each time rather than keeping a made-up bowl back for later.

HiPP's recommended amounts by age

Portion Flakes Water Prepared portion
From the 6th month 40 g (about 3-4 spoons) 135 ml 175 g
From the 8th month 45 g (about 4 spoons) 150 ml 195 g
Smaller portion 35 g (about 3 spoons) 120 ml 155 g

Quantities are taken from HiPP's own published product information for this article, which also gives the 250 g pack and the 6-month age. Spoon measures are a guide to the gram weights beside them rather than a substitute for them.

Do not use a microwave. HiPP states a risk of burns from microwaving a prepared porridge. Reseal the pack after each opening, keep it at room temperature in a dry place, and use the contents within 3 to 4 weeks.
Nutrition

What is in a bowl of it

These are HiPP's own declared figures for this box. The left column is the dry flakes and the right column is a prepared 175 g bowl, which is 40 g of flakes with 135 ml of water.

Per 100 g flakes 175 g prepared
Energy 1813 kJ / 430 kcal 725 kJ / 172 kcal
Fat 11.1 g 4.4 g
of which saturates 1.2 g 0.5 g
Carbohydrate 69.5 g 27.8 g
of which sugars 35.6 g 14.2 g
Fiber 2.5 g 1.0 g
Protein 11.8 g 4.7 g
Salt 0.43 g 0.18 g
Calcium 430 mg (108%) 172 mg (43%)
Iron 4.3 mg (72%) 1.7 mg (28%)
Iodine 35.5 µg (51%) 14.2 µg (20%)
Vitamin A 375 µg (94%) 150 µg (38%)
Vitamin D 7.1 µg (71%) 2.8 µg (28%)
Vitamin E 4.8 mg 1.9 mg
Vitamin C 45 mg (180%) 18 mg (72%)
Vitamin B1 0.68 mg (136%) 0.27 mg (54%)

Percentages are of the reference amount, as HiPP states them. The sugars figure is worth reading carefully: at 35.6 g per 100 g of dry flakes it is high, and it is accounted for by the lactose in the whey product and the skimmed milk powder together with the sugars in the fruit components. No no-added-sugar claim is made for this box, because HiPP does not make one for it, and none should be read into the ingredient list.

HiPP lists the calcium, iron, iodine and vitamins A, C, D and B1 in this box as added, with the vitamin A, vitamin D and vitamin B1 additions made as EU regulations require. HiPP also lists omega-3 ALA among the box's features, which the rapeseed oil accounts for; no function claim is made for it here.

Ingredients and allergens

What is in it

Contains milk, and HiPP marks it gluten free

This box contains cow's milk in three forms: a whey product, skimmed milk powder at 13 percent, and the lactose the galacto-oligosaccharides are made from. The grains are rice and corn, neither of which carries gluten, and HiPP marks the box gluten free. HiPP's declaration also notes that it may contain mustard. Read the allergen panel printed on your own box before preparing a feed.

Ingredients and more

WHEY product, rice flour, 13% skimmed MILK powder, vegetable oils (sunflower oil, rapeseed oil), corn flour, galacto-oligosaccharides from LACTOSE, 2.9% forest fruit flakes (strawberry puree, raspberry puree, carrot juice concentrate, rice flour), calcium carbonate, red beetroot juice powder (beetroot juice, maltodextrin), raspberry extract, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B1, vitamin A, vitamin D, iron diphosphate, potassium iodate. Gluten-free.

Allergens: MILK, as the whey product, the skimmed milk powder and the lactose. May contain MUSTARD.

This listing previously carried no ingredient panel for this box and stated that the declaration was being updated. The list above is translated from HiPP's own published product information for this article, where the 250 g pack size and the 6-month age also agree with this product. Two published readings of the iron salt differ between a diphosphate and a pyrophosphate, so it is given here in the form HiPP uses across its other cereals. The panel printed on the box you receive is the one that governs, and it is the one to read before a feed.

No added-sugar claim is made. The sugars in the box are the lactose from the milk fractions and the sugars in the fruit components, and the declared figure is in the nutrition table above.

Read as a list, that is two gluten-free grains, three milk fractions, two vegetable oils, a prebiotic fiber, four fruit and vegetable components and the added vitamins and minerals.

Portions

How many bowls a 250 g box makes

Because HiPP publishes a different flake quantity for each stage, the bowl count falls as your baby grows. Each figure is one division of the 250 g pack.

Portion Flakes per bowl Arithmetic Bowls per box
From the 6th month 40 g 250 ÷ 40 about 6
From the 8th month 45 g 250 ÷ 45 about 5
Smaller portion 35 g 250 ÷ 35 about 7

So a 250 g box is about six bowls at the 6-month portion and about five at the 8-month one. The prepared bowl itself weighs 175 g, 195 g or 155 g, which is the weight of the meal rather than of the powder.

All three figures are calculated from HiPP's own gram weights and the 250 g pack size, and the arithmetic is shown so you can check it. A spoon measure varies between hands, so treat the bowl count as a planning figure rather than a promise.

Frequently asked questions

How do I prepare HiPP Forest Fruits Milk and Cereal?

With water only. Boil fresh water and let it cool to about 50 degrees Celsius. Put the flakes in the bowl first, 40 g from the 6th month or 45 g from the 8th, pour on 135 ml or 150 ml of water to match, and stir it through. Let it stand to the consistency you want, check the temperature, and spoon-feed it. Do not use a microwave.

Do I add formula or milk to it?

No. The whey product and skimmed milk powder are already in the flakes, so water is the only liquid it needs and HiPP's quantities assume water.

From what age can my baby have it?

From the 6th month, which is the age on this product and the age HiPP's own published information gives for the same article.

Is it gluten free?

HiPP marks this box gluten free. The grains are rice flour and corn flour, neither of which is a gluten cereal. HiPP's declaration does note that it may contain mustard. Read the allergen panel on your own box before preparing a feed.

Does it contain added sugar?

HiPP makes no added-sugar claim for this box, so we make none either. The declared sugars are 35.6 g per 100 g of dry flakes and 14.2 g in a prepared 175 g bowl, and they come from the lactose in the whey and milk powder together with the sugars in the fruit components.

Does it contain real berries?

The forest fruit flakes are 2.9 percent of the box and are made from strawberry puree and raspberry puree with a carrot juice concentrate and rice flour. A beetroot juice powder and a raspberry extract are listed as well. There is no added flavoring on the panel.

How much calcium and iron does a bowl have?

A prepared 175 g bowl carries 172 mg of calcium, which HiPP puts at 43 percent of the reference amount, and 1.7 mg of iron at 28 percent. The full nutrition table is on this page.

How many portions does a 250 g box make?

About six at the 6-month quantity of 40 g and about five at 45 g, or about seven using HiPP's smaller 35 g portion. The arithmetic is in the portions table on this page.

Other HiPP cereals and what goes with this one

Written from HiPP's own published product information for this article, which supplied the ingredient declaration this listing had been missing, together with the nutrition table and the recommended amounts by age; the 250 g pack size and the 6-month age given there agree with this product. The nutrient statements carried by this listing are reproduced as given. No added-sugar claim is made, because HiPP makes none for this box, and no function claim is made for the omega-3 ALA. Where two published readings of the iron salt differ, the difference is disclosed above rather than resolved silently. Last reviewed 14 October 2026.
