FruchtBar Organic Heart Noodles with carrot and beetroot, 200 g, from 12 months
FruchtBar Organic Heart Noodles is a dry organic pasta for toddlers, suitable from 12 months. It is a 200 g bag of small heart-shaped noodles made from durum wheat semolina at 98.7 percent, with carrot powder 0.8 percent, beetroot powder 0.3 percent and tomato powder 0.2 percent and added vitamin B1. Every ingredient is from organic farming, certified under control body DE-ÖKO-006, and it is made with no added salt. It contains gluten, because it is wheat pasta.
The shape is the point. A heart-shaped noodle is a small, easy pasta for a toddler who is learning to use a fork and a spoon, and a shape a child notices is a shape that gets eaten. FruchtBar's own name for this bag translates as I love you, which tells you what it was designed for.
Being straight about the vegetables matters here. The carrot, beetroot and tomato are powders, and together they are 1.3 percent of the bag. They give the noodles their colour and they are genuinely organic vegetable powders, but at that proportion they are a colouring and a flavouring rather than a serving of vegetables. This pasta is not a way of getting vegetables into a toddler, and we are not going to suggest otherwise. Serve it with vegetables; do not count it as them.
What it is good at is being a plain, well-made toddler pasta. Durum wheat semolina is the proper flour for pasta and it is nearly the whole of the bag. The no added salt claim is the one that matters most at this age, because ordinary dry pasta sauces and ready meals are where a toddler's salt intake usually comes from, and a pasta with none is a clean base to build on.
It is also, simply, pasta. As an organic toddler food it needs cooking in boiling water like any other dry pasta, it has no vegetable content worth counting, and it is a vehicle for whatever you put on it. Made in Italy, vegetarian, and with nothing added for colour, flavour or preservation beyond the three vegetable powders and the vitamin B1.

Where it fits
Where this sits in a toddler's week
From 12 months a toddler is eating family food, and a small-shaped pasta is one of the genuinely useful things to have in a cupboard. It cooks in minutes, it takes any sauce, and the shape is small enough to be managed with a spoon by someone whose fork technique is still theoretical.
The way to use it well is as a base. Because there is no salt in it and almost nothing else either, what goes on top does all the nutritional work: a vegetable sauce, something with protein in it, a little oil. That is the honest division of labour, and it is more useful than pretending the noodles themselves are doing more than they are.
On the 12-month age: this is wheat pasta, so it brings gluten, and it needs to be cooked soft enough to be safe for a child who is still learning to chew. Small shapes help with that, but cooked-soft matters more than shape. If your child has not had wheat before, that is a food to introduce on its own rather than in a bowl of sauce.
What this pasta does not do
At 1.3 percent vegetable powder, it does not count towards vegetables. An earlier version of this listing described these noodles as rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, and as helping to develop fine motor skills. Those claims have been removed and are not repeated, because nothing published for this product supports them. It is organic pasta with a little vegetable powder for colour, and that is a perfectly good thing to be.
Cooking it
How to cook the heart noodles
Read this before the first bowl
Cook the noodles until they are properly soft, which for a toddler matters more than cooking them al dente. Drain well and check the temperature before serving, because pasta holds heat and a bowl that feels warm on the outside can still be hot in the middle. Never leave a young child alone with a bowl of hot food. Always supervise a child who is eating.
FruchtBar's cooking time for this product is printed on the bag and we have not been able to source it, so no time in minutes is stated here. Follow the time on the bag you receive. The steps below are general practice for cooking a small dry pasta, not manufacturer instructions.
1
Bring water to the boil
A good quantity of water in a large pan. Do not add salt: the point of a no-added-salt pasta is lost if you put salt in the cooking water.
2
Add the noodles and stir
Tip them in and stir once or twice in the first minute. Small shapes stick together if they sit on the bottom undisturbed.
3
Cook for the time on the bag
Follow the cooking time printed on your bag. For a toddler, err towards the longer end of it rather than the shorter.
4
Check one before you drain
Lift one out, cool it and squash it between your fingers. If it still has any firmness in the middle, give it another minute.
5
Drain well
Drain thoroughly, because water left on small shapes thins whatever sauce you add and makes the bowl harder to manage.
6
Cool it, then check it again
Spread it out to cool and test the temperature yourself before it reaches your child. Then reseal the opened bag and keep it dry at room temperature.
Contains gluten. Serve cooked soft and always supervised. This is wheat pasta and wheat is the declared allergen. Cook it until properly soft, drain well, and check the temperature yourself before serving. Follow the cooking time printed on your bag. Never leave a young child alone with hot food.
The vegetables
How much vegetable is actually in it
This is the number worth seeing laid out, because the name and the colour both suggest more than the declaration does.

Ingredients and nutrition
What is in it
Contains gluten
This is pasta made from durum wheat semolina, so it contains gluten and wheat is the declared allergen. No gluten-free claim is made for it and none should be read into it.
*from organic farming. Organic control body: DE-ÖKO-006. Country of origin: Italy.
Allergens: cereals containing gluten, namely wheat. No milk, egg, nut, soya or celery ingredient appears in the list. Read the declaration printed on the bag you receive, because recipes are revised from time to time and the bag in your hand governs.
No added salt. The declaration shows no colouring, flavouring or preservative beyond the three vegetable powders and the vitamin B1. No organic, pesticide-free or GMO-free claim is made beyond the organic certification itself, which is what the DE-ÖKO-006 control body number attests.

These are the figures published for this product, for the dry pasta rather than the cooked weight. Dry pasta roughly doubles or more in weight as it cooks, so a cooked portion carries proportionally less of each figure per 100 g. The 0.01 g of salt is what the no-added-salt claim looks like on a panel.

We do not state how many toddler portions a bag makes. No portion size is published for this product, and a toddler's pasta portion varies enormously from week to week, so any figure would be invented. Dry pasta expands considerably on cooking, so a small amount of dry weight goes further than it looks.
The 200 g net weight is the figure shown for this product. One European retailer lists these heart noodles at 300 g; the pack size on this page is the one that applies to the bag sold here. No number of portions per bag is stated, because none is published.

Questions parents ask
Frequently asked questions
From what age can my child have it?
From 12 months, which is the age on this product. It is wheat pasta, so it brings gluten, and it needs cooking soft enough for a child who is still learning to chew.
Does it count as a vegetable portion?
No. The carrot, beetroot and tomato are powders and together they are 1.3 percent of the bag. They are there for colour and a little flavour. Serve it with vegetables rather than counting it as them.
Is it gluten-free?
No. It is made from durum wheat semolina at 98.7 percent, so it contains gluten and wheat is the declared allergen.
How long do I cook it for?
Follow the cooking time printed on your bag. We have not been able to source FruchtBar's time for this product, so we do not state one. For a toddler, err towards the longer end of whatever the bag says.
Should I salt the cooking water?
Not for a toddler. The whole point of a no-added-salt pasta is undone if you salt the water. The panel shows 0.01 g of salt per 100 g dry, which is as close to none as a figure gets.
Is it vegan?
No vegan claim is made for it. It is described as vegetarian. The declaration lists no egg or milk ingredient, but we will not upgrade a vegetarian claim to a vegan one ourselves.
What is the vitamin B1 for?
It is declared on the ingredient list, without a percentage. We do not state a reason or a benefit for it, because none is published for this product.
Where is it made?
Italy, which is the country of origin given for this product. The organic certification is held under control body DE-ÖKO-006.
How should I store the opened bag?
Reseal it and keep it dry at room temperature, like any other dry pasta.
Written from the ingredient declaration, nutrition panel, organic certification and origin published for this product. The age and the 200 g pack size shown on this page are taken from the product itself; a European retailer lists these heart noodles at 300 g and that conflict is noted in the body rather than adopted. No cooking time in minutes is stated, because FruchtBar's time for this product could not be sourced, and the steps above are identified as general practice. Claims carried by an earlier version of this listing — that the noodles are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, that they are free from pesticides, GMOs and harmful chemicals, and that they help develop fine motor skills — have been removed and are not repeated, because nothing published for this product supports them and because the vegetable content is 1.3 percent. No portion count per bag is stated, because none is published. Last reviewed 15 October 2026.
