What it is

Kabrita Buckwheat Cereal with Apple, Apricot and Goat Milk, 180 g, from 5 months

This is the fruit version of Kabrita's buckwheat cereal: a goat milk baby cereal for babies from 5 months, with buckwheat flour, apple and apricot fruit flakes, the DigestX fat complex and prebiotic FOS-inulin, in a 180 g pack. A European baby cereal with no added sugar and a full vitamin and mineral premix.

The fruit is what separates it from the plain version. Apple and apricot flakes bring the fiber up to 5 g per 100 g against 3 g, and add a light tartness to a cereal that is otherwise mild.

No added sugar, but 36 g of natural sugar per 100 g

Both are true at once. Kabrita adds no sugar or sweetener, and the 36 g of natural sugar per 100 g is the lactose in the goat milk base plus the sugars in the fruit. That is 4 g more than the plain version. Worth knowing even though nothing was added.

The fortification matches the plain cereal closely: per 100 g, 9 mg of iron, 500 mg of calcium, 42 mg of vitamin C, 7.5 micrograms of vitamin D3, zinc, iodine and a full B-complex. These are added as a premix rather than coming from the fruit.

Kabrita states the milk across this range is A2 goat milk. The declaration names only skimmed goat milk powder, so A2 is Kabrita's own claim rather than something the declaration establishes. What it does establish is that this cereal contains milk and is not sold as a certified organic product.

Where it fits

Where this cereal sits in the feeding journey

At five months a baby is usually just past the first plain tastes and ready for a little more character in a bowl. The fruit does that without any added sugar, which is why it sits a month later than the plain cereal.

Mixed thin it works as a first fruit cereal; mixed thicker it becomes a morning porridge as your baby gets steadier with a spoon. It carries its own milk base, so the method calls for water rather than formula.

It is also a reasonable step if your baby took the plain buckwheat cereal well and you want to widen the flavors without changing base or brand.

Which of the two, and is there an organic option?

The plain buckwheat cereal is placed from 4 months and carries less natural sugar, 32 g per 100 g against 36 g here, and less fiber, 3 g against 5 g. Neither is certified organic. If certification matters, Holle Organic Junior Muesli with Fruits is certified organic, though it is for older babies and is a different kind of cereal.

Preparation

How to prepare Kabrita Buckwheat Cereal with Apple and Apricot

No powder-to-water ratio is published for this product

Kabrita publishes the method for its cereals but no scoop count, powder weight or water volume for this one, and no serving size by age. The steps below are the safe method without quantities. Use the measure printed on your own box, and ask your pediatrician before introducing it.

Water onlyNo formula needed
No ratioNone published
Fresh each feedDo not reheat
Check temperatureEvery time
1

Ask your pediatrician first

This cereal brings dairy and fruit together. Check before the first feed if there is any allergy in the family.

2

Use a clean bowl and spoon

No need to sterilize for a cereal, but both should be properly clean.

3

Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool

Boil it, then let it cool before mixing. Do not use water boiled twice or left standing.

4

Add the amount of powder your box gives

Powder in the bowl first, then the water. No ratio is published, so follow your own pack.

5

Stir well and let it swell

Stir until smooth, then leave it a moment to thicken. Thinner for a baby new to solids, thicker as they grow.

6

Check the temperature, then feed

Test it yourself first. Feed from a spoon with your baby upright, never lying down.

7

Make it fresh, then close the pack

Discard what your baby does not finish. Store the pack closed, cool and dry; no keeping time is published.

No scoop count, powder weight, water volume, water temperature, serving size or opened-pack keeping time is published for this product, so no such figures appear above. What is published is the age, the 180 g pack size, the declaration and the panel.

Contains milk, and may contain traces of gluten. The goat milk base means this cereal contains milk. Buckwheat and rice are naturally gluten-free grains, but Kabrita declares the finished product may contain traces of gluten, so it does not suit a baby who must avoid gluten strictly. Goat milk is still dairy and no alternative for a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy. Feed upright and supervised, and consult your pediatrician before introducing new foods.
Nutrition

The nutrition panel, per 100 g of powder

These are Kabrita's declared figures for the dry powder. A prepared bowl is mostly water, so what your baby takes is a fraction of these numbers depending on how thick you mix it. No prepared-weight panel is published.

Per 100 g powder As declared
Energy 1824 kJ / 433 kcal
Protein 12.5 g
Fat 11.7 g
of which polyunsaturated 2.67 g
Linoleic / linolenic acid 2.05 g / 0.22 g
Carbohydrate 67 g
of which natural sugar 36 g
Fiber 5 g
of which FOS-inulin 1 g
Iron 9 mg
Calcium 500 mg
Magnesium 90 mg
Potassium 650 mg
Zinc 3.2 mg
Iodine 50 mcg
Sodium 0.1 g
Vitamin A / D3 / E 410 mcg-RE / 7.5 mcg / 6.5 mg
Vitamin C 42 mg
Vitamins B1 / B2 / B6 0.55 / 0.5 / 0.45 mg
Vitamin B12 / PP 0.75 mcg / 5 mg
Folic / pantothenic acid 50 mcg / 1.3 mg
Water 4.3 g

Against the plain version of the same cereal this one carries more sugar and fiber and slightly less magnesium, 90 mg against 110 mg; the rest is close. The retailer labels the table as a percentage of a daily requirement, but the values given are amounts per 100 g of dry powder, so we reproduce the amounts and drop the percentage framing.

Ingredients and allergens

What is in it

Contains milk. May contain traces of gluten

The goat milk base means this cereal contains milk. Buckwheat and the rice flour in the fruit flakes are naturally gluten-free, but Kabrita declares this product may contain traces of gluten. For that reason no gluten-free claim is made for it here, and it does not suit a baby who must avoid gluten strictly.

On the label

Ingredients and more

Kabrita milk formula made from goat milk (skimmed goat milk powder, lactose, vegetable oils (rapeseed, sunflower, coconut), DigestX complex (1,3-dioleoyl-2-palmitoyl-triglyceride), minerals (calcium carbonate, potassium citrate, sodium citrate, calcium chloride, calcium phosphate, magnesium chloride)), buckwheat flour, fruit flakes (apples, apricots, corn starch, hydrolyzed corn starch, rice flour), lactose, skimmed goat milk powder, hydrolyzed corn starch, fructooligosaccharide (FOS-inulin), minerals (calcium carbonate, ferrous pyrophosphate, zinc sulfate, potassium iodide), vitamins (B1 (thiamine mononitrate), C (ascorbic acid), E (DL-alpha-tocopherol acetate), A (retinol acetate), PP (niacin), D3 (cholecalciferol), B12 (cyanocobalamin), calcium D-pantothenate, folic acid, B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride), B2 (riboflavin)).

Allergens: contains milk. May contain traces of gluten.

A NOTE ON THIS DECLARATION: as published it names lactose, skimmed goat milk powder and hydrolyzed corn starch twice. It is reproduced as published rather than tidied. Your own box is authoritative.

DigestX is Kabrita's name for a structured fat, 1,3-dioleoyl-2-palmitoyl-triglyceride or OPO. The two functions Kabrita publishes are that the DigestX complex supports calcium absorption and digestive comfort and that the prebiotic inulin supports gut flora development. We state no others.

NOT A CERTIFIED ORGANIC PRODUCT. No organic certification is claimed for this cereal by Kabrita or by its authorized retailer.

NOT SOURCEABLE, stated plainly: a country of manufacture, a non-GMO status, a scoop-to-water ratio, a water temperature and a serving size have all appeared in copy for this product, and none can be sourced. None is reproduced here.

CLAIMS NOT REPRODUCED: that the cereal is gluten-free, which the declared traces of gluten contradict; that the apricot makes it rich in beta-carotene or pro-vitamin A, when the panel's vitamin A is added retinol acetate; that it supports vision or immune development, which are health claims; that it is rich in manganese or antioxidants such as rutin, neither being in the panel; and a non-GMO status.

THE A2 QUESTION: Kabrita describes this range as made with A2 goat milk. The declaration names only skimmed goat milk powder, so A2 is Kabrita's own claim and is reported here as such.

Read in order: the goat milk formula with its oils, the DigestX fat and its minerals come first, then buckwheat flour, the apple and apricot flakes, more lactose and milk powder, a starch thickener, the prebiotic, the added minerals and the eleven vitamins. No added sugar, salt, flavoring, coloring or palm oil.

Pack and portions

What a 180 g pack gives you

The pack is 180 g of powder. Kabrita publishes no serving size and no scoop weight, so the number of bowls in a pack cannot be given without inventing a portion.

The ounce conversion is arithmetic from the 180 g net weight. Every row marked not published is genuinely absent from the sources we can read and is left as a gap rather than filled with an estimate.

No monthly usage figure is published for baby cereal. Those estimates exist for infant formula, where a baby's whole intake is measurable. We have not invented one.

Questions parents ask

Frequently asked questions

From what age can my baby have this cereal?

From 5 months, which is the age on this product and the age Kabrita's authorized retailer gives. The plain version of the same cereal is placed from 4 months.

Is it gluten-free?

Buckwheat and rice are naturally gluten-free grains, but Kabrita declares this product may contain traces of gluten. We make no gluten-free claim for it, and it does not suit a baby who must avoid gluten strictly.

Does it contain added sugar?

No. Kabrita adds no sugar or sweetener. The panel declares 36 g of natural sugar per 100 g, which is the lactose in the goat milk base together with the sugars in the apple and apricot.

Why is there more sugar than in the plain version?

The fruit. The plain cereal declares 32 g of natural sugar per 100 g and this one 36 g. Neither has sugar added; the difference is the apple and apricot flakes.

Does it contain dairy?

Yes. The base is a goat milk formula and the allergen statement declares milk. Goat milk is still dairy, so this is no alternative for a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy unless your pediatrician says otherwise.

Is it rich in beta-carotene from the apricot?

That claim has appeared in copy for this product and we do not repeat it. The panel's vitamin A is declared as added retinol acetate, and no beta-carotene figure is published.

What are DigestX and FOS-inulin?

DigestX is Kabrita's name for a structured fat, OPO. Kabrita publishes two functions for this cereal: the DigestX complex supports calcium absorption and digestive comfort, and the prebiotic inulin supports gut flora development.

How much powder and how much water?

Kabrita publishes the method but no ratio, scoop weight or serving size, so we cannot give you numbers. Use the measure on your own box.

Is it organic?

No. No organic certification is claimed for this cereal by Kabrita or its authorized retailer. Our Holle and HiPP cereals are certified organic.

Written from the listing for this product at an authorized Kabrita retailer, which is the source of the full ingredient declaration, the allergen statement of contains milk and may contain traces of gluten, the complete nutrition panel per 100 g of powder reproduced in the table above, the statement that no sugar or sweetener is added, and the statements that the DigestX fat complex supports calcium absorption and digestive comfort and that the prebiotic inulin supports gut flora development. The age of 5 months and the 180 g pack size are stated on the product itself and are authoritative. The ounce conversion is arithmetic from 180 g and is labeled as such. Comparisons use the plain cereal's own published panel. The declaration as published repeats lactose, skimmed goat milk powder and hydrolyzed corn starch; it is reproduced as published and the repetition is flagged on the page. CLAIMS REMOVED: that the finished cereal is gluten-free, contradicted by the declared possible traces of gluten, with the contradiction stated openly; that the apricot makes it rich in beta-carotene or pro-vitamin A, when the panel's vitamin A is added retinol acetate and no beta-carotene figure is published; that it supports healthy vision or immune development, which are health claims; that it is rich in manganese or in antioxidants such as rutin, neither being in the panel or declaration; that the DigestX fat mimics breast milk fat, published for Kabrita's formula and not this cereal; and a non-GMO status. NOT SOURCEABLE and therefore absent: a country of manufacture, a scoop-to-water ratio, a powder weight, a water volume, a water temperature, a serving size, a bowls-per-pack figure and an opened-pack keeping time. The percentage-of-daily-requirement framing is dropped, because the figures given are amounts per 100 g of dry powder. The A2 designation is reported as Kabrita's own claim, and the page states plainly that this is not a certified organic product. Last reviewed 24 October 2026.
