What it is

Kabrita Buckwheat Baby Cereal with Goat Milk, 180 g, from 4 months

Kabrita Buckwheat Baby Cereal is a goat milk baby cereal for babies from 4 months, built on a goat milk base with buckwheat flour, the DigestX fat complex and prebiotic FOS-inulin, in a 180 g pack. It is a European baby cereal with no added sugar, no added salt and a full vitamin and mineral premix, and it is the plain version of the recipe; a fruit version with apple and apricot is placed from 5 months.

The grain is the point of difference. Buckwheat is not a wheat and not a true cereal but a seed, and the panel reflects that: 110 mg of magnesium and 3 g of fiber per 100 g. It has a mild, slightly nutty taste that tends to suit a first grain.

No added sugar, but 32 g of natural sugar per 100 g

These two statements sit together and both are true. Kabrita adds no sugar, sweetener or salt, and the 32 g of natural sugar per 100 g in the panel is lactose from the goat milk base, not added sweetener. It is worth knowing the figure, because a milk-based cereal is a sweeter food than a plain water-mixed one whether or not sugar was added to it.

The fortification is substantial for a cereal: per 100 g, 9 mg of iron, 490 mg of calcium, 42 mg of vitamin C, 8.0 micrograms of vitamin D3, zinc, iodine and a full B-complex. At four to six months iron matters most, as a baby's own stores begin to run down.

Kabrita states the milk across this range is A2 goat milk. The declaration names only dried skimmed goat milk, so A2 is Kabrita's own claim rather than something the declaration establishes. What it does establish is that this cereal contains milk and is not sold as a certified organic product.

Where it fits

Where this cereal sits in the feeding journey

This is a first-foods cereal. At four months a baby still takes nearly all their nutrition from breast milk or formula, and a cereal like this is an addition to that rather than a replacement. Mixed thin, a few spoons once a day is a realistic start.

As your baby gets steadier with a spoon you can mix it thicker and offer it more often, usually as a morning porridge. Because it already carries its own milk base you do not need to make it up with formula; water is what the method calls for.

It also suits a family moving away from cow milk cereals. Goat milk is still dairy and no substitute where cow's milk protein allergy is diagnosed, but for other babies it is a different dairy to try.

Which of the two buckwheat cereals, and is there an organic option?

This plain one is placed from 4 months; the apple and apricot version is placed from 5 months and carries more natural sugar, 36 g per 100 g against 32 g here. Neither is certified organic. If certification matters, Holle Organic Oats Baby Porridge is certified organic and dairy-free, in a different grain and with no added vitamins.

Preparation

How to prepare Kabrita Buckwheat Baby Cereal

No powder-to-water ratio is published for this product

Kabrita publishes the method for its cereals but no scoop count, powder weight or water volume for this one, and no serving size by age. The steps below are the safe method without quantities. Use the measure printed on your own box, and ask your pediatrician before starting solids at four months.

Water onlyNo formula needed
No ratioNone published
Fresh each feedDo not reheat
Check temperatureEvery time
1

Ask your pediatrician first

Four months is early for solids and this cereal brings dairy. Check before the first feed, especially if there is any allergy in the family.

2

Wash your hands and the bowl

Use a clean bowl and spoon. No need to sterilize for a cereal, but both should be properly clean.

3

Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool

Boil it, then let it cool before mixing. Do not use water that has been boiled more than once or left standing.

4

Add the amount of powder your box gives

Put the powder in the bowl first, then pour the water on. No ratio is published for this product, so follow your own pack.

5

Stir well and let it swell

Stir until smooth, then leave it a moment to thicken to the consistency you want. Thinner for a baby new to solids, thicker as they grow.

6

Check the temperature, then feed

Test it yourself before it goes near your baby. Feed from a spoon with your baby sitting upright, never lying down.

7

Make it fresh, then close the pack

Prepare each feed fresh and discard what your baby does not finish. Store the pack closed, cool and dry; no opened-pack keeping time is published.

No scoop count, powder weight, water volume, water temperature, serving size or opened-pack keeping time is published for this product on any source we can read, so no such figures appear above. What is published is the age, the 180 g pack size, the declaration and the full nutrition panel.

Contains milk, and may contain traces of gluten. The goat milk base means this cereal contains milk. Buckwheat is naturally a gluten-free grain, but Kabrita declares the finished product may contain traces of gluten, so it does not suit a baby who must avoid gluten strictly. Goat milk is still dairy and no alternative for a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy. Feed upright and supervised, and consult your pediatrician before starting solids.
Nutrition

The nutrition panel, per 100 g of powder

These are Kabrita's declared figures for the dry powder. A prepared bowl is mostly water, so what your baby actually takes is a fraction of these numbers, depending on how thick you mix it. No prepared-weight panel is published.

The retailer labels this table as a percentage of the daily requirement for children aged 4 to 6 months, but the values given are the amounts in 100 g of dry powder. We reproduce the amounts and drop the percentage framing, which the figures do not support.

Ingredients and allergens

What is in it

Contains milk. May contain traces of gluten

The goat milk base means this cereal contains milk. Buckwheat itself is a naturally gluten-free grain, but Kabrita declares that this product may contain traces of gluten. For that reason no gluten-free claim is made for it here, and it is not a safe choice where gluten has to be avoided strictly.

On the label

Ingredients and more

Kabrita milk mixture made from goat milk (dried skimmed goat milk, lactose, vegetable oils (rapeseed, sunflower, coconut), DigestX complex (1,3-dioleoyl-2-palmitoyl-triglyceride), minerals (calcium carbonate, potassium citrate, sodium citrate, calcium chloride, calcium phosphate, magnesium chloride)), buckwheat flour, hydrolyzed corn starch, fructooligosaccharides (FOS-inulin), minerals (calcium carbonate, ferrous pyrophosphate, zinc sulfate, potassium iodide), vitamins (thiamine (B1), ascorbic acid (C), DL-alpha-tocopherol acetate (E), retinol acetate (A), niacin (PP), cholecalciferol (D3), cyanocobalamin (B12), calcium D-pantothenate, folic acid, pyridoxine hydrochloride (B6), riboflavin (B2)).

Allergens: contains milk. May contain traces of gluten.

DigestX is Kabrita's name for a structured fat, 1,3-dioleoyl-2-palmitoyl-triglyceride, usually shortened to OPO. The two functions Kabrita publishes for this product are that the DigestX complex supports calcium absorption and bowel comfort and that the prebiotic inulin supports gut flora development. We state no others.

NOT A CERTIFIED ORGANIC PRODUCT. No organic certification is claimed for this cereal by Kabrita or by its authorized retailer.

NOT SOURCEABLE, stated plainly: a country of manufacture, a named manufacturing company, a non-GMO status, a scoop-to-water ratio, a water temperature and a serving size have all appeared in copy for this product, and none can be sourced. None is reproduced here.

CLAIMS NOT REPRODUCED: that the finished cereal is gluten-free, which the declared traces of gluten contradict; that it is rich in manganese or in antioxidants such as rutin, neither being in the panel or declaration; that the DigestX fat mimics breast milk fat, published for Kabrita's formula and not this cereal; and a non-GMO status.

THE A2 QUESTION: Kabrita describes this range as made with A2 goat milk. The declaration names only dried skimmed goat milk, so A2 is Kabrita's own claim and is reported here as such.

Read in order: the goat milk mixture with its oils, the DigestX fat and its minerals come first, then buckwheat flour, hydrolyzed corn starch as a thickener, the prebiotic, the added minerals and the eleven vitamins. No added sugar, salt, flavoring or palm oil.

Pack and portions

What a 180 g pack gives you

The pack is 180 g of powder. Kabrita publishes no serving size and no scoop weight, so the number of bowls in a pack is not something we can tell you without inventing a portion.

The ounce conversion is arithmetic from the 180 g net weight. Every row marked not published is genuinely absent from the sources we can read and has been left as a gap rather than filled with an estimate.

No monthly usage figure is published for baby cereal. Those estimates exist for infant formula, where a baby's whole intake is measurable. We have not invented one.

Questions parents ask

Frequently asked questions

From what age can my baby have this cereal?

From 4 months, which is the age on this product and the age Kabrita's authorized retailer gives. Four months is early for solids, so ask your pediatrician before you start.

Is it gluten-free?

Buckwheat is a naturally gluten-free grain, but Kabrita declares this product may contain traces of gluten. We make no gluten-free claim for it, and it does not suit a baby who must avoid gluten strictly.

Does it contain added sugar?

No. Kabrita adds no sugar, sweetener or salt. The panel declares 32 g of natural sugar per 100 g, which is the lactose in the goat milk base rather than added sweetener.

Does it contain dairy?

Yes. The base is a goat milk mixture and the allergen statement declares milk. Goat milk is still dairy, so this is no alternative for a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy unless your pediatrician says otherwise.

What are DigestX and FOS-inulin?

DigestX is Kabrita's name for a structured fat, OPO. Kabrita publishes two functions for this cereal: the DigestX complex supports calcium absorption and bowel comfort, and the prebiotic inulin supports gut flora development.

How much powder and how much water?

Kabrita publishes the method but no ratio, scoop weight, water volume or serving size, so we cannot give you numbers. Use the measure on your own box and mix to the consistency your baby manages.

Is it organic?

No. No organic certification is claimed for this cereal by Kabrita or its authorized retailer. If certification matters, our Holle and HiPP cereals are certified organic.

Is the milk really A2?

Kabrita describes this range as made with A2 goat milk. The declaration names only dried skimmed goat milk, so A2 is Kabrita's own claim rather than something the declaration confirms.

How is it different from the apple and apricot version?

The fruit and the age. That one adds fruit flakes of apple and apricot and is placed from 5 months rather than 4. It carries more natural sugar, 36 g per 100 g against 32 g, and more fiber, 5 g against 3 g. Neither has added sugar.

Written from the listing for this product at an authorized Kabrita retailer, which is the source of the full ingredient declaration, the allergen statement of contains milk and may contain traces of gluten, the complete nutrition panel per 100 g of powder reproduced in the table above, the statement that no sugar, sweetener, salt or artificial additive is added, and the statements that the DigestX fat complex supports calcium absorption and bowel comfort and that the prebiotic inulin supports gut flora development. The age of 4 months and the 180 g pack size are stated on the product itself and are authoritative. The ounce conversion is arithmetic from 180 g and is labeled as such. The comparison with the apple and apricot version uses that product's own published panel. CLAIMS REMOVED: that the finished cereal is gluten-free, contradicted by the declared possible traces of gluten, with the contradiction stated openly on the page; that it is rich in manganese or in antioxidants such as rutin, neither being in the panel or the declaration; that the DigestX fat mimics the fat of breast milk, which is published for Kabrita's infant formula and not for this cereal; and a non-GMO status. NOT SOURCEABLE and therefore absent: a country of manufacture, a named manufacturing company, a scoop-to-water ratio, a powder weight, a water volume, a water temperature, a serving size, a bowls-per-pack figure and an opened-pack keeping time. The retailer's percentage-of-daily-requirement framing of the panel is not reproduced, because the figures given are amounts per 100 g of dry powder. The A2 designation is reported as Kabrita's own claim, and the page states plainly that this is not a certified organic product. Last reviewed 24 October 2026.

  • Always wash hands and sanitize bowls, spoons, and prep surfaces before preparing
  • Boil fresh water and let cool to a warm, safe temperature (or use baby's usual formula/breast milk)

  • Always test temperature on your wrist before feeding — should feel lukewarm, not hot
  • Feed baby immediately after preparing; do not store prepared porridge for later use
  • Discard any uneaten portion within 1 hour of preparation
  • Introduce one new food at a time and watch for allergic reactions over 2–3 days
  • Consult your pediatrician before introducing any new solid food, especially for babies under 6 months
  • Do not add honey, salt, or sugar to any homemade or store-bought infant cereal
  • Store unopened box in a cool, dry place; reseal tightly after each use
