HiPP Goat Stage 2 is an EU Organic certified goat milk follow-on formula for babies after the sixth month, made in Germany and sold across Europe in a 400 g folding carton with a German label. One carton makes about 102 fl oz of prepared formula — roughly 20 five-ounce bottles.
A follow-on milk is not a first infant milk with a bigger number on the front. The nutrient profile steps up for a baby who is now eating solid food as well as drinking milk, and the headline change here is iron: 1.0mg per 100ml against the 0.5mg in HiPP Goat PRE. A baby's own iron stores from birth start running down around the six-month mark, which is precisely when this carton takes over.
It matters which carton this is. HiPP manufactures centrally in Germany and labels separately for each European market. This one carries German label text and a Pfaffenhofen distributor address, and its published ingredient panel opens with skimmed goat's milk. The Dutch-market metal can sold as HiPP Dutch Goat Stage 2 is a different SKU with its own barcode and a slightly different published panel, and we list it separately. This page is only about the German carton.
The gentleness story does not change between stages, because the protein source does not. Goat milk carries no A1 beta-casein, so this is A2 goat milk formula by nature, and A2 protein forms a softer, looser curd in the stomach. That is why parents reach for goat milk baby formula when an older baby still seems windy or unsettled on a standard cow's milk follow-on with nothing diagnosed behind it.
What sets this carton apart from most follow-on milks is what is absent. Many formulas begin adding starch or maltodextrin at six months to thicken the feed; this one does neither, keeping a lactose carbohydrate base with a GOS prebiotic. It is certified EU Organic under control body DE-ÖKO-001, and its palm oil is organic and separately declared as coming from sustainable cultivation. The full label reads: organic skimmed goat's milk, organic lactose, organic vegetable oils of palm, rapeseed and sunflower, organic skimmed goat's milk powder, galacto-oligosaccharides from lactose, calcium carbonate and fish oil, followed by potassium citrate, vitamin C, sodium citrate, ferrous sulphate, the amino acids L-tyrosine, L-tryptophan and L-cystine, magnesium carbonate, zinc, copper and manganese sulphate, niacin, vitamin E, pantothenic acid, vitamins A, B1, B6, K, D and B12, folic acid, sodium selenite, potassium iodide and biotin. The palm oil is declared separately on-label as organic and from sustainable cultivation.
Digestion
Is goat milk formula easier to digest than cow's milk formula?
Goat milk contains no A1 beta-casein at all, so every goat formula is A2 beta-casein by nature. A2 protein sets into a softer, looser curd in the stomach than the A1 and A2 mix in conventional cow's milk, and that curd is the named mechanism behind the gentler-digestion claim — not a vague promise of comfort.
Nothing about that changes between PRE and Stage 2, because the protein source stays the same — only the nutrient concentrations move. The GOS prebiotic works on a separate front, feeding gut flora rather than altering the curd, and keeping the carbohydrate lactose-based means no starch is being added to slow the feed down.
Now the part worth being blunt about. Goat milk formula is not a treatment for cow's milk protein allergy. Goat and cow milk proteins are close enough in structure that cross-reaction is likely, and independent reviews of this carton say exactly that. If your baby has a confirmed or suspected cow's milk protein allergy, or a lactose intolerance, this is not the right formula and you need one your doctor prescribes.
Where HiPP goat milk formula does fit is the older baby with nothing diagnosed: still gassy or unsettled on a standard cow's milk follow-on, and starting solids. Moving to a gentler A2 goat formula is a reasonable, non-medical step, and that is the honest limit of what it claims.

How many boxes of formula will my baby need per month?
Published guidance puts an average baby on HiPP Goat Stage 2 at roughly 4 to 5 cartons a month. One 400 g carton makes about 102 fl oz of prepared formula, which is around 20 five-ounce bottles. This is the best-sourced monthly usage figure in HiPP's whole goat range.
Unlike the newborn stage, the figure drifts downward rather than upward across these months, because solid food takes over a growing share of the diet from six months on. Expect the upper end of the range early in the stage and the lower end later. Any breastfeeding alongside formula pulls all of it down.

Preparation
How do you prepare HiPP Goat Stage 2?
Sterilise the bottle and teat, boil fresh water and let it cool to 40–50°C, pour the measured water into the bottle first, then add one level scoop per 30 ml of water — 13.5 g of powder to 90 ml makes 100 ml of feed — shake until the powder dissolves, cool to 37°C and test a drop on your wrist before feeding.

Sterilise everything
Wash and sterilise the bottle, teat, ring and cap, and wash your hands before you start.

Boil and cool
Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to 40–50°C, the temperature HiPP specifies on this carton.

Water into the bottle first
Pour the measured water into the sterilised bottle before you add any powder — never the other way round.

Add level scoops
Add one level scoop for every 30 ml of water, levelling each with the back of a clean knife. A standard 100 ml feed is 13.5 g of powder to 90 ml of water.

Cap and shake
Put the cap on and shake well until no trace of powder is left in the bottle.

Cool, test, feed
Cool the bottle to 37°C, test a drop on your wrist so it feels body temperature, and feed straight away.
Never use artificially softened water or water that has been boiled more than once. Prepare a fresh bottle for every feed, never reheat, never microwave, and throw away whatever your baby does not finish rather than saving it for the next feed.
A note on water temperature. HiPP specifies water at about 40–50°C for this formula, and that is the instruction printed on your carton. It is set deliberately — hotter water damages the heat-sensitive vitamins this formula is built around.
Many health authorities, including the NHS and WHO, advise 70°C or hotter for any powdered formula, because powder is not sterile and that temperature kills bacteria that can occasionally be present. The difference matters most for newborns, premature babies, and babies with weakened immunity. If your baby is in one of those groups, ask your paediatrician or health visitor which to follow for your situation.
Please read before buying
This formula is not suitable for babies with a diagnosed or suspected cow's milk protein allergy. Goat milk protein is closely related to cow milk protein, and most infants who react to one react to the other. It also contains fish oil, so it is not suitable for a fish allergy and is not vegetarian. Breastfeeding is best for your baby — talk to your health visitor or doctor before starting or changing a formula.
Store the carton in a cool, dry place and reseal it after every use. Never reheat or microwave prepared formula.
Packaging & labelling
This is HiPP's German-labelled folding carton, distributed by Hipp GmbH & Co. Vertrieb KG of Pfaffenhofen, so the label text and feeding chart are in German. It is sold across Europe under names such as “Bio 2 Folgemilch aus Ziegenmilch”, and it is a separate SKU from the Dutch-market metal can. If a seal is ever broken, or the powder looks or smells wrong, do not use it; message us and we will replace it.

Because EU Organic rules already prohibit genetically modified ingredients, the non-GMO claim comes with the certificate rather than standing on its own. Can I use goat milk formula if my baby has a cow's milk allergy?
No. Goat milk formula is not a treatment for cow's milk protein allergy. Goat and cow milk proteins are structurally similar enough that cross-reaction is likely, and independent reviews of this carton state plainly that it is unsuitable for a confirmed cow's milk protein allergy. It is also unsuitable for lactose intolerance. A diagnosed allergy needs a hydrolysed or amino-acid formula prescribed by your doctor, so speak to your paediatrician before changing anything.

What comes after HiPP Goat Stage 2?
HiPP's goat range in this line stops at Stage 2, so there is no Stage 3 here to move on to. From around twelve months most parents either move to cow's milk on their doctor's advice, or continue with a toddler milk from another range.
