Tropic Tiger - Holle Organic Fruit Puree Pouch, Apple with Mango and Passion Fruit, from the 8th month
Tropic Tiger is a Holle organic fruit puree pouch for babies from the 8th month. It is apple with mango and passion fruit and nothing else, in a resealable 100 g pouch. The apple and mango are Demeter grade, the biodynamic tier above EU Organic, and Holle declares the pouch gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan and made with no added sugar.
This is the tropical one in the range, and it is the pouch parents reach for when a baby has got bored of apple and pear. Apple is 80 percent of it and does the work of carrying everything else; mango at 15 percent brings the perfumed sweetness, and passion fruit juice at 5 percent is the sharp note that keeps it from being flat. Three ingredients, no thickener, no starch and no grain.
Passion fruit is the reason this is an 8-month pouch rather than a 6-month one. It is a markedly more acidic fruit than the apples and pears a baby usually starts on, and Holle places the pouch in the later stages of weaning rather than at the beginning. There is only a twentieth of it in there, but it is what you taste first and it is the ingredient to introduce knowingly.
Certification runs through the whole recipe. Apple and mango carry Demeter, Holle's biodynamic standard, which goes further than organic on soil, composting and farm-as-a-whole rules; the passion fruit juice is certified organic. Holle states the pouch contains no added sugar, with a footnote that it naturally contains the sugars in the fruit, and there are no additives of any kind in the declaration.
The main ingredients are grown in Italy, which Holle prints on the pack. The pouch is resealable, the packaging is BPA-free and the cap is recyclable. Unopened it needs no refrigeration, so as an organic baby snack it goes in a changing bag and stays there until you want it.

Where it fits
Where this pouch sits in the weaning day
Holle puts this one in the later stages of weaning, and suggests it three ways: as part of a filling breakfast, as a snack between meals, or as a simple pudding after a savoury course. All three work because it is fruit and nothing but fruit, so it does not have to be fitted around a grain or a dairy portion.
By the 8th month most babies have moved past the first single-fruit purees and are ready for a combination. That is what this is for. It is not a first puree and Holle does not present it as one: passion fruit is the sharpest thing in the whole pouch range, and a baby meeting its first fruit should meet something plainer.
It also keeps working well past babyhood. The flavour is strong enough that toddlers and older children take it readily, which makes it one of the pouches worth keeping in a bag for a day out rather than only for a feeding routine at home. Stirred through plain yoghurt it does the job of a flavoured yoghurt without the added sugar one of those would carry.
Spoon it out, do not let your baby suck on the pouch
Holle's own note on this pouch is to use a spoon to feed the puree and not to let a child suck on the pouch continuously, because prolonged sucking on a sweet puree is what causes tooth decay. Keep the cap out of reach of children, because a cap this size is a choking hazard. The pouch needs no cooking, no water and no warming.
Once opened, this pouch keeps in the fridge for 2 days. Unopened it is shelf-stable, which is the point of a pouch: it travels in a changing bag without a cool pack.

1
Check the pouch first
Look it over before you open it. The cap should be sealed and the pouch should be firm rather than puffed. If it has been punctured in a bag, do not use it.
2
Shake it, then unscrew the cap
A fruit puree with juice in it can separate slightly as it stands. A short shake before you open it evens out the texture and saves you stirring the bowl.
3
Squeeze it into a bowl
Squeeze out the portion you want rather than feeding from the spout. That is how Holle writes it, and it also lets you see how much your baby has actually taken.
4
Put the cap somewhere safe
The screw cap is small enough to be a choking hazard, and Holle states it should be kept out of reach of children. It goes on the counter, not on the tray.
5
Spoon-feed at your baby's pace
Offer it from the spoon and let your baby set the speed. A pouch fed by squeezing goes down far faster than a baby would take it from a spoon, which is the habit the tooth-decay note is about.
6
Refrigerate or discard the rest
Cap what is left, put it in the fridge, and use it within 2 days. Do not keep a pouch your baby has fed directly from.

Keep the cap out of reach. It is a small part and Holle calls it out specifically. Use a spoon to feed this puree, and do not let your child suck on the pouch continuously, because that is what causes tooth decay. Do not use a pouch that is swollen, leaking or past its date.
By percentage
What is in the pouch, by percentage
Three ingredients, and the percentages explain the taste. Apple is four fifths of it and gives the body; mango is the sweetness; passion fruit juice is a twentieth of the pouch and is the part you notice.

Questions parents ask
Frequently asked questions
From what age can my baby have Tropic Tiger?
From the 8th month, which is the age on this product and the age Holle publishes for it. The passion fruit is the reason it sits later than the 6-month pouches.
How much is in the pouch?
Each pouch holds 100 g, and the weight printed on the back of the pouch governs.
Is it gluten-free?
Yes. Holle declares this pouch gluten-free, and there is no cereal of any kind in the ingredient list.
Does it contain added sugar?
No sugar is added. Holle states no added sugar and footnotes that the pouch contains naturally occurring sugars, which come from the three fruits in it.
What does Demeter mean here?
Demeter is the biodynamic certification, a stricter standard that sits above EU Organic. The apple and mango in this pouch are Demeter grade; the passion fruit juice is certified organic.
Can my baby feed straight from the pouch?
Holle's instruction is to use a spoon and not to let a child suck on the pouch continuously, because prolonged sucking on a sweet puree is what causes tooth decay. Squeeze it into a bowl and spoon it.
How long does it keep once opened?
Two days in the fridge with the cap back on. Unopened it does not need refrigerating at all, which is why it travels well.
Is it vegan?
Yes. Holle lists this pouch as vegan and declares it lactose-free. There is no milk, egg or honey in it.
Written from the ingredient, allergen and storage declarations printed on this pouch, checked against Holle's own published product page for Tropic Tiger - Apple with mango and passion fruit, which gives the same three percentages and the same 8-month age. The age is taken from the product itself. The net weight is 100 g per pouch. Last reviewed 18 October 2026.
