How many boxes will my baby need?
Running out mid-week means a late-night store run, or switching formula on your baby. Work out how much to keep on hand.

Breast milk is best for babies. These are stock-planning estimates, not feeding advice. Every baby is different — always follow the feeding table on the box and your paediatrician's guidance on how much your baby should actually take.
Ranges assume the standard one-scoop-per-30ml preparation. Real usage shifts with growth spurts, starting solids, and how much formula ends up on the floor.
What is HiPP Kindermilch 2+?
HiPP Kindermilch 2+ is a German toddler milk for children from 24 months, made from skimmed milk with lactose as its carbohydrate and fortified with calcium, iron, zinc and DHA. It carries the Combiotik pairing of GOS prebiotic fibre with a live lactic acid culture. One 600 g box makes roughly 290 fl oz of prepared milk, about 57 cups of 150 ml.
This is the last step in HiPP's German toddler range, and it is deliberately lighter than 1+: 51 kcal per 100 ml against 54, with less fat and slightly less protein. That is the point of it. A two-year-old is getting most of their energy from food, so a milk drink that is too rich competes with meals rather than filling gaps in them.
It keeps the same system as the rest of the line — GOS fibre made from the formula's own lactose, the Lactobacillus fermentum hereditum culture, and Metafolin, the bioactive folate the body uses without converting it first. Zinc is added at this stage, which 1+ does not declare.
Is HiPP Kindermilch 2+ organic?
No. HiPP Kindermilch 2+ does not carry organic or Bio certification, and it does not hold the EU organic mark.
Our own listing used to state that it did, and an earlier version also called it Demeter certified. Both were wrong. We are correcting it openly rather than editing the wording quietly, because anyone who bought this box thinking it was organic ought to know.
If organic certification is what decides it for you, buy Holle Stage 4 — it carries EU Organic certification, and we stock it. What this box genuinely offers is the lighter recipe for an older toddler, the Combiotik prebiotic and live culture, Metafolin folate, and no added starch, maltodextrin or sucrose.
What is in HiPP Kindermilch 2+ per 100 ml?
Prepared as directed, every 100 ml provides 51 kcal, 2.9 g fat, 1.0 g protein, 5.0 g carbohydrate from lactose, 120 mg calcium, 1.2 mg iron, 0.75 mg zinc and 7.7 mg DHA from fish oil, plus GOS prebiotic fibre and a live culture.

HiPP Kindermilch 2+ compared with 1+ and 3 Junior
All three are German HiPP toddler milks and none carries organic certification. 2+ is the lightest of the three and the only one labelled from 24 months. It gives the most prepared milk per box, and like 1+ it uses the bioactive Metafolin folate rather than plain folic acid.

Being straight with you: none of these three is organic — Holle Stage 4 is EU Organic certified, and we sell it. Between the HiPP boxes, the two 600 g Kindermilch boxes give roughly twice the prepared milk of the 500 g Junior box and use the bioactive folate, so compare on price per prepared ounce, not price per box.
How many boxes of HiPP Kindermilch 2+ will my child need?
One 600 g box makes roughly 290 fl oz, about 57 cups of 150 ml. At the recommended two cups a day that is a little under a month per box — so about one box a month for a single child, or two if the milk also goes into cereal and cooking.
By two years old many children are drinking less milk than they did at one, so the same box often lasts longer than it did on 1+. Use these numbers for planning rather than as a target.
Estimates only. The guideline of two servings a day is a guide, not something your child has to finish.
How do you prepare HiPP Kindermilch 2+?
Boil fresh water and let it cool to about 45°C (113°F), pour the measured water into a clean cup first, add three level scoops of powder for every 135 ml of water, stir until no powder is left on the sides, and check the temperature before serving. Make each drink fresh and discard anything left an hour after drinking starts.
Please read before buying
HiPP Kindermilch 2+ contains cow's milk protein, lactose and fish oil. It is not suitable for a child with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy or a fish allergy. It is a drink for a child over two who is already eating family food — it is not an infant formula and must never be used as one. Talk to your doctor or health visitor if you are unsure whether your child needs a toddler milk at all.
HiPP Kindermilch 2+: frequently asked questions
Is HiPP Kindermilch 2+ organic?
No. It carries no organic or Bio certification and does not hold the EU organic mark. Earlier versions of this listing said it was EU Organic certified, and one said Demeter certified; both were incorrect and have been removed. For a certified organic toddler milk we stock Holle Stage 4, which carries EU Organic certification.
When should I switch from HiPP Kindermilch 1+ to 2+?
Around the second birthday, but there is no need to be precise about it. 1+ remains nutritionally suitable through the second year, so plenty of parents finish the box they have and then move across. The reason to switch is that 2+ is lighter, which suits a child now getting most of their energy from food.
What is actually different between 1+ and 2+?
2+ is lighter: 51 kcal per 100 ml against 54, 2.9 g fat against 3.0, and 1.0 g protein against 1.1. It also declares 0.75 mg zinc per 100 ml, which 1+ does not. Calcium and iron are the same in both at 120 mg and 1.2 mg, and both use the same Combiotik prebiotic, live culture and Metafolin folate. Both come in a 600 g box.
What is the difference between Metafolin and folic acid?
Metafolin is calcium L-methylfolate, the form of folate the body can use directly. Ordinary folic acid has to be converted first. Kindermilch 2+ and 1+ both use Metafolin; HiPP 3 Junior uses plain folic acid. It is a small formulation detail rather than a headline feature, but it is a genuine difference between the boxes.
Does a two-year-old need toddler milk at all?
Often not, and we would rather be honest about it. A two-year-old eating a varied diet can do well on whole cow's milk. This exists because toddler diets commonly fall short on iron and vitamin D — it supplies 1.2 mg iron per 100 ml where cow's milk supplies almost none. If your child eats reliably, cow's milk plus a varied plate may be all you need, and it is cheaper.
How much prepared milk does one 600 g box make?
About 290 fl oz, roughly 57 cups of 150 ml, at three level 3.5 g scoops per 135 ml of water. At two cups a day that is a little under a month per box.
Can my child drink it cold, straight from the fridge?
Kindermilch 2+ can be prepared warm or cold. Prepare it fresh each time rather than making a batch to chill — a made-up drink should be used within the hour, and anything left after your child starts drinking should be thrown away.
Does HiPP Kindermilch 2+ contain palm oil?
Yes. The vegetable oil blend is palm, rapeseed and sunflower oil, and HiPP states the palm oil comes from sustainable cultivation. If avoiding palm oil entirely matters to you, compare against other brands on our shelf rather than within the HiPP range.
Is it gluten-free, and what are the allergens?
It is gluten-free. It contains milk and milk products including lactose, and fish, because the DHA comes from fish oil. Those are the two allergens to watch. The full ingredient list is in the panel above.
