What it is

Fa Kids Shower Gel and Shampoo, Sweet Berry, 250 ml

Fa Kids Shower Gel & Shampoo in Sweet Berry is a 2-in-1 children's shower gel and shampoo in a 250 ml bottle. It is specially developed for children, with an extra mild care formula made so that washing hair causes no tears and no tangles. Fa states that 94 percent of the ingredients are of natural origin, including 84 percent water, that the bottle is 25 percent recycled plastic excluding the cap, and that it is made without parabens and without paraffins or mineral oils.

This is a children's wash rather than a baby wash, and the distinction is worth making before you buy. It is built for the stage where a child is in a shower or a bath washing their own hair badly, not for a newborn being held over a basin. The 2-in-1 format is the practical part: one bottle for hair and body means one bottle for a child to manage on their own.

The Sweet Berry scent is the reason this variant exists. Fa makes the Kids line in several scents, and a wash that smells of something a child has chosen is a wash that gets used without an argument. It is a lightly perfumed product, and the fragrance is listed on the ingredient panel as Parfum.

The no tears, no tangles claim is about the washing experience: a mild formula that does not sting on contact and leaves hair easier to get a comb through. It is Fa's own wording for this product. It is not a claim that the wash has no effect at all if it reaches an eye, so it is still worth keeping the lather away from the face.

Two honest notes on the panel. This wash contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate, a standard foaming cleanser, and it contains two colourants, CI 17200 and CI 19140, which are what give the gel its colour. If you are specifically looking for a dye-free or sulfate-free children's wash, this is not that product, and the panel below is the place to check.

Who it suits

Who this bottle is for, and the age question

Fa describes this as specifically developed for children, for children's skin and hair. That is the whole of what is published about who it is for. Fa does not publish a from-age for this product, and we will not supply one we cannot source, so none is stated on this page. Check the age printed on the bottle you receive, and if you need a wash for a newborn, choose a product that carries a from-birth age.

Where it fits in practice is the independence stage. A 2-in-1 that a child can hold, squeeze and use on their own hair is doing a different job from a product a parent applies. The mild formula and the no-tears claim both point at the same thing: a wash designed to survive being used badly by someone who does not want help.

Three things to be straight about. It contains Parfum, so it is scented rather than unscented. It contains two colourants, so it is not a dye-free wash. And it contains Denatonium Benzoate, a bittering agent put in to make the liquid taste unpleasant. We make no claim about any skin condition for this wash.

If you need a wash that carries a from-birth age

Choose a product that states one. HiPP Gentle Care 2 in 1 Shampoo and Shower Gel, 200 ml is suitable from the first day of life and also washes hair and body in one pass. It is a different product from a different manufacturer with its own ingredient panel, so read the one on the bottle you buy.

Using it

How to use it

Read this before the first use

Never leave a young child alone in or near water. For external use only. Keep the bottle out of reach of small children and away from the edge of the bath. Avoid contact with the eyes and rinse with clean water if it happens. Stop using it if the skin becomes red or irritated, and speak to your doctor or pharmacist if that does not settle.

The first three steps below are Fa's own instructions for this product. The remaining three are general practice for washing a child, not manufacturer instructions. Fa publishes no quantity per wash or washing frequency, so none is stated. Follow whatever is printed on the bottle you receive.

1

Spread a small amount

Fa's instruction is to spread a small amount of the gel on wet hair, on wet skin, or on a sponge. Not onto dry hair, and not straight from the bottle onto a child.

2

Lather it up

Work the gel into a lather. It foams readily once there is water with it, which is part of why a small amount goes a long way.

3

Wash off thoroughly

Fa's instruction is to rinse it off thoroughly. Hair in particular needs rinsing until nothing slippery is left, or it dries dull and feels sticky.

4

Check the water first

Warm rather than hot, tested with your own wrist or elbow. Run the cold tap last so the tap itself is not hot to touch.

5

Keep the lather off the face

A hand across the forehead when you rinse hair sends the water backwards. The no-tears claim is about mildness, not about the lather having no effect in an eye.

6

Put the bottle away afterwards

Cap on and out of reach. A bottle with a bittering agent in it is still not something a small child should be able to get at.

Never leave a young child unattended in or near water. For external use only. Avoid the eyes and rinse with clean water if contact happens. Keep out of reach of small children. Discontinue use if the skin reacts, and check the ingredient panel and the age on your own bottle before first use.
What is in it

What is in Fa Kids Sweet Berry

The full ingredient panel is below, as carried by this bottle. Underneath it is a translation, because a cosmetic panel is written in INCI names that say nothing to most people.

Scented, coloured, and deliberately bitter

Parfum appears on the panel, so this is a scented wash. CI 17200 and CI 19140 are colourants, so it is not a dye-free wash. Denatonium Benzoate is a bittering agent, in the formula to make the liquid taste unpleasant. All three are ordinary in a children's wash and all three are worth knowing about before you buy.

On the label

Ingredients and more

Aqua (Water), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Coco-Glucoside, Panthenol, Niacinamide, Glyceryl Laurate, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Sodium Chloride, Parfum (Fragrance), PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Denatonium Benzoate, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Benzyl Alcohol, CI 17200 (Red 33), CI 19140 (Yellow 5).

Allergens: contains Parfum. A cosmetic carries no statutory allergen declaration, so this is a read-the-label note and not a declaration. Names are given in INCI form, as printed.

This is the panel for the Sweet Berry variant sold here. Fa makes the Kids line in several scents and has revised it: the manufacturer's current page for another scent in the line claims no colourants, a vegan formula and a 100 percent recycled bottle, none of which apply to this bottle, whose own panel carries two colourants and whose own claim is a 25 percent recycled bottle. No claim has been carried across from that other product. The panel printed on the bottle you receive is the one that governs.

What the main ingredients are doing

On the panel What it is
Aqua Water, stated by Fa as 84 percent of the formula
Sodium Laureth Sulfate The main foaming cleanser
Cocamidopropyl Betaine A milder second cleanser that builds the lather
Coco-Glucoside A mild sugar-based cleanser, derived from coconut
Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside Another mild sugar-based cleanser
Panthenol Provitamin B5, used on skin and hair
Niacinamide A form of vitamin B3
Glyceryl Laurate A glycerin ester, used as a conditioning agent
PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate A coconut-derived PEG, used to soften the formula
Denatonium Benzoate A bittering agent, added to make it taste unpleasant
Sodium Benzoate A preservative
Benzyl Alcohol A second preservative, also used as a solvent
CI 17200, CI 19140 The colourants that give the gel its colour
Parfum The Sweet Berry fragrance

The table above translates the main ingredients only and is not the full panel; it is not given in the order of the panel, and the panel above it is the complete list. No preservative-free claim is made for this product.

What Fa claims

What Fa claims for this bottle

Each of these is Fa's own claim for this product, set out with the qualifier that belongs to it rather than as a row of badges.

  • Specially developed for children
  • Extra mild care formula
  • No tears, no tangles
  • 94% ingredients of natural origin
  • 25% recycled bottle
  • No parabens
  • No paraffins or mineral oils

94 percent of natural origin. Fa's own figure, and its own breakdown notes that 84 percent of the formula is water, which counts towards that total. 25 percent recycled bottle. Fa's figure, and it excludes the cap. No tears, no tangles describes the washing experience and the mildness of the formula; it is not a claim that the wash has no effect if it reaches an eye. Extra mild describes what the formula was developed to be, not a guarantee that no skin will react to it.

What is not claimed for this product

No fragrance-free, dye-free, sulfate-free, preservative-free, vegan, cruelty-free, pH-neutral, dermatologically-tested or organic claim is made for this wash, and none should be read into it. It contains Parfum, two colourants, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, a PEG and two preservatives. No from-age is stated, because Fa publishes none for this product. No claim is made about any skin condition.

Pack size

What you get, and how long a 250 ml bottle lasts

This listing is one 250 ml bottle. Because it is a 2-in-1, that 250 ml is doing the work of a shampoo and a shower gel together, so it replaces two bottles rather than one.

How long it lasts cannot honestly be given as a number. Fa publishes no quantity per wash for this product, and a wash is used by hand rather than measured, so any per-bottle count would be invented. What can be said is how it compares with the other 2-in-1 washes on this site, which is usually the real question behind how long will it last.

These are separate products from different manufacturers with separate ingredient panels, listed here by size and stated age only. No equivalence between their formulas is implied. No number of washes per bottle is claimed, because no quantity per wash is published for this product.

Questions parents ask

Frequently asked questions

From what age can my child use it?

Fa does not publish a from-age for this product, so we do not state one. It is developed and sold as a children's wash rather than a baby-from-birth wash. Check the age printed on the bottle you receive.

Can I use it on a newborn?

We would not suggest it, because no from-birth age is published for this wash. For a newborn, choose a product that states a from-birth age on the pack.

Can it really be used on both hair and body?

Yes, that is what it is built for. Fa sells it as a shower gel and shampoo in one, and its own instruction is to spread it on wet hair, wet skin, or a sponge.

Does it sting the eyes?

Fa's claim is no tears, no tangles, which describes the mildness of the formula. It is not a claim that the lather has no effect in an eye, so keep it away from the face and rinse with clean water if some gets in.

Is it fragrance-free or dye-free?

Neither. Parfum is on the panel, and so are two colourants, CI 17200 and CI 19140. If you need a wash with no fragrance or no dye, this is not the one.

Does it contain sulfates?

Yes. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is the main foaming cleanser and sits second on the panel. No sulfate-free claim is made for this product.

What does 94 percent of natural origin mean?

It is Fa's own figure for the proportion of ingredients that are naturally derived, and Fa's own breakdown notes that 84 percent of the formula is water, which counts towards that total.

Is the bottle recycled?

Fa's claim for this bottle is 25 percent recycled plastic, excluding the cap.

Why does it contain a bittering agent?

Denatonium Benzoate is on the panel to make the liquid taste unpleasant. It is a common addition to brightly coloured, sweet-smelling products that live in a bathroom where children are.

Other washes and bath products

Written from the ingredient panel, claim block and usage instruction carried by this bottle. Only statements carried by that source are made. The 250 ml pack size is taken from the product itself. No from-age is stated on this page, because Fa publishes none for this product and the manufacturer's own page for this line gives no age range either; the age on the bottle you receive governs. Claims published by Fa for a different scent in the Kids line — no colourants, vegan, and a 100 percent recycled bottle — have deliberately not been carried across, because this bottle's own panel declares two colourants and its own claim is a 25 percent recycled bottle. No quantity per wash or washing frequency is published, so none is stated and three of the six steps above are identified as general practice. Last reviewed 15 October 2026.
