HiPP Crunchy Organic Corn-Millet Baby Snack with Apple and Carrot, from 8 months
This is an organic baby snack for babies from 8 months: a light, crunchy corn and millet stick made from organic grain, colored only with organic apple and carrot juice concentrates, and carrying the EU organic seal. HiPP states it is gluten free, that its sweetness comes only from fruit and vegetables, and that no flavors are added. The stick shape is made to be held, so it is a baby finger food rather than a spoon food.
The job this snack does is specific and it is not nutrition. Somewhere around eight months most babies want to put food in their own mouth, and a stick is the easiest shape to do that with: long enough for a small fist to grip with a few centimeters still showing, and light enough that there is no force needed to break a piece off. HiPP describes it as light and airy, and that is the whole design brief for a baby snack of this kind.
It is built on organic grain. HiPP names corn and millet in the product itself, states that the grain is organic, and states that the only coloring used is natural organic juice concentrate from apples and carrots. That last point is more interesting than it sounds: the apple and the carrot here are doing the work of a color and a taste, not standing in for a portion of fruit or vegetable. A snack like this is not a way to get vegetables into a baby, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
HiPP's own statement about sweetness is that it comes only from fruit and vegetables, and that no flavors are added. HiPP does not publish a no added sugar claim for this snack, so this page does not print one either. What is published, and what matters for a parent reading labels, is that it is gluten free, it carries the EU organic seal, and the coloring and the sweetness both come from food rather than from an additive.
As a European baby snack it sits alongside the rest of the HiPP range as the between-meals item rather than a meal. It travels well, it does not need preparing, and it gives a baby who is bored in a high chair something to do with their hands. That is a real use and it is worth having in the bag. It is not a substitute for a bowl of food, and HiPP does not position it as one.

Where it fits
Where this one sits in the feeding day
From eight months a baby is usually taking two or three spoon meals a day alongside milk feeds, and the gaps between those meals are where a snack belongs. This is a between-meals item: something to hand over in a stroller, at a table while the adults are still eating, or in the twenty minutes before a meal is ready. It is not a course and it does not replace a bowl.
Its other use is practice. Self-feeding is a skill that gets learned by doing it badly for several weeks, and a stick that is light and crunchy is a forgiving thing to learn on. A baby who cannot yet manage a loaded spoon can usually manage this, and the independence matters as much as anything that goes down. HiPP makes the shape deliberately: it says the stick form suits small hands.
It is gluten free, which makes it one of the easier snacks to place if your baby has not met gluten grains yet or is avoiding them. That is HiPP's own statement rather than ours, and it is on the pack. Everything else your baby eats that day still has to carry the nutrition; this is the part of the day that is about holding food rather than being fed it.
If your baby is not yet picking food up
A snack like this needs a baby who can bring a hand to their mouth and manage a piece on their own. If that is still some weeks away, a soft rusk or biscuit to be dunked and handed over is the gentler step. HiPP Organic Wheat and Milk Baby Biscuit softens quickly and is designed for exactly that stage.
How to serve it
How to give this snack to your baby
A finger food carries a choking risk, so this one needs you in the room
Sit your baby upright and stay with them for the whole snack. A baby eating a crunchy stick should never be left alone with it, should not be walking, crawling or lying down while eating, and should not be given it in a moving car seat or stroller where you cannot see them. If a piece is longer than your baby can manage, break it shorter before handing it over.
HiPP publishes no per-serving quantity, no number of sticks per day and no feeding frequency for this snack, and it publishes no choking or supervision guidance for it either. The six steps below are general practice for giving a baby a finger food. They are not manufacturer instructions, and the pack in your hand governs. We have deliberately not borrowed a piece count from another HiPP snack, because a quantity printed for a different product is not a quantity for this one.
1
Check the age first
This snack is from the 8th month, which is HiPP's own age indication. A younger baby is not ready for a crunchy finger food of any kind.
2
Sit your baby upright
A high chair with a footrest and an upright back is the right place for a finger food. Avoid giving it in a reclined seat, a sling, a stroller or a moving car.
3
Offer one stick at a time
Hand over a single stick rather than a pile. One piece in a hand is easier for a baby to manage and easier for you to keep track of.
4
Break it shorter if needed
If the stick is longer than your baby can handle, snap it down to a length they can hold with the end clear of their mouth.
5
Stay within reach
Stay with your baby for the whole snack and keep watching. Do not let a baby carry food around, and take it away when they have finished with it.
6
Close the pack afterwards
Close the pack after each use and keep it dry at room temperature. A crunchy snack that has taken up moisture loses the texture that makes it work.
Never leave a baby alone with a finger food. Stay in the room and within reach for the whole snack. Do not give it to a baby who is lying down, moving about or strapped where you cannot see them. If your baby has an existing feeding difficulty, ask your pediatrician before offering a crunchy finger food.
What is confirmed
Every claim on this page, and what HiPP actually says
A baby snack attracts a lot of loose label language, so it is worth setting out plainly which statements come from HiPP's own product information and which do not appear anywhere. The table below is the short version, and the column on the right is the one to read.

Four statements that appeared in an earlier version of this page have been removed because HiPP does not make them for this snack: vegan, low sugar, whole-grain carbohydrates, and a no added sugar claim. A claim about chewing skills, digestion and motor development was also removed. None of them is published by the manufacturer for this product.

What is in it
Gluten free, with a celery advisory
HiPP states this snack is gluten free. HiPP's own allergy advice for it names CELERY, so it is not the snack for a baby avoiding celery. No dairy-free, egg-free or nut-free claim is made for it here, because none is published.

Ingredients and more
The full ingredient declaration for this snack is not reproduced on this page, because HiPP does not publish it as text. Its own product page carries the declaration only in a downloadable document that cannot be read programmatically, and we will not retype an ingredient list we have not read in full. The pack in your hand carries the complete declaration and governs.
What HiPP does publish for this snack, and what we therefore state: it is made from organic grain, corn and millet; it is colored only with natural organic juice concentrates from apples and carrots; no flavors are added; the sweetness comes only from fruit and vegetables; it is gluten free; and HiPP's allergy advice for it names celery.
We have deliberately not copied the ingredient list from another HiPP snack in the same format. A sibling product's declaration is that product's declaration, and transferring one is how incorrect ingredient lists get published.
If you have the pack to hand and would like the declaration added to this page, send us a photograph of the panel and we will publish it word for word.
So what can be said about the contents is short and all of it is HiPP's own: organic corn and millet grain, organic apple and carrot juice concentrate for color and taste, nothing added to flavor it, and no gluten. The nutrition panel is on the pack rather than on this page, for the same reason the ingredient list is.

How far a pack goes
How long a 30 g pack lasts, and why we will not give you a number
On a cereal this section divides the pack weight by the portion weight and prints a bowl count. That cannot honestly be done here. HiPP publishes no weight per stick and no recommended number of sticks per day for this snack, so any count of servings per pack would be a number we invented, and a parent planning a month of snacks on an invented number is worse off than one with no number at all.
What can be said is the pack size and the format. A pack holds 30 g of sticks and is meant to be opened, used over a short period and closed in between. How long that takes depends entirely on how many your baby is given and how often, and you are the only person who can set that. If you want a planning figure, count the sticks in the first pack you open and work from that.

The pack size comes from HiPP's own product listing for this snack. HiPP's own product page does not print the weight, so if the pack in your hand says something different, the pack governs and we would be glad to be told. Boxes-per-month planning figures are something we publish on formula, where the daily intake is defined; on a snack there is no defined daily intake to divide by.

Questions parents ask
Frequently asked questions
How many of these should I give my baby?
HiPP does not publish a number of sticks per day or a serving weight for this snack, so we cannot give you one. Offer one stick at a time, stay with your baby for the whole snack, and treat it as a between-meals item rather than a meal. If you want a figure, your pediatrician or health visitor is the right person to set it.
From what age can my baby have it?
From 8 months, which is HiPP's own age indication for this snack and the age on this product. A younger baby is not ready for a crunchy finger food.
Is it gluten free?
Yes. HiPP states this snack is gluten free and the pack carries a gluten-free marking. That is a manufacturer statement rather than an inference from the ingredient list.
Does it contain added sugar?
HiPP states the sweetness comes only from fruit and vegetables and that no flavors are added. HiPP does not publish a no added sugar claim for this snack, and no sugar figure is published for it either, so we do not print one. The pack carries the nutrition panel.
Is it vegan?
HiPP does not state vegan for this snack, so we do not claim it. If a vegan diet is the reason you are asking, the pack's own declaration is the thing to read before buying.
Does it count as a portion of fruit or vegetables?
No. The apple and the carrot are here as natural juice concentrates that color and sweeten the stick, which is what HiPP states. They are not a serving of fruit or vegetables and this snack should not be counted as one.
Why is the ingredient list not on this page?
Because HiPP does not publish it as text for this snack, only inside a downloadable document that cannot be read programmatically. Rather than retype a list we have not read in full, or copy one from a similar HiPP snack, we have left it to the pack. Send us a photograph of the panel and we will publish it word for word.
Is there a choking risk?
Any finger food carries one. Sit your baby upright, offer one stick at a time, break it shorter if it is too long to manage, and stay within reach for the whole snack. Never give it to a baby who is lying down, moving about or strapped somewhere you cannot see them.
How should I store it once opened?
Close the pack after each use and keep it dry at room temperature. A crunchy snack that has taken up moisture goes soft and loses the texture that makes it worth eating.

Other organic baby snacks and what goes with this one
Written from HiPP's own published product information for this snack. The gluten-free statement, the EU organic seal, the organic grain, the apple and carrot juice concentrate coloring, the absence of added flavors, the fruit-and-vegetable sweetness, the stick format and the celery allergy advice are all HiPP's own. The pack size comes from HiPP's product listing, because its own product page does not print it. The ingredient declaration and the nutrition panel are deliberately not reproduced, because HiPP publishes them only in a document that could not be read; no sibling product's list was copied in their place. Vegan, low sugar, whole grain, a no added sugar claim, a sticks-per-day figure and claims about chewing, digestion and motor development were all removed from an earlier version of this page because the manufacturer does not make them for this product. The age is taken from the product itself. Last reviewed 15 October 2026.
