Starch and maltodextrin sit alongside lactose at this stage, as they do at Stage 2. That is deliberate rather than economical: they digest more slowly than lactose alone, which suits a baby approaching one year old whose feeds are fewer and further apart. Being straight with you: watch the pack size before comparing prices — Jovie Goat Stage 3 comes in an 800 g tin, twice this box, so you buy half as many packs and usually pay less per prepared ounce. How many boxes of Holle Goat Stage 3 will my baby need per month?
Between 2.5 and 3.5 boxes per month, depending on how big each prepared bottle is. At 150 ml bottles it works out at about 2.5 boxes, at 180 ml about 3 boxes, and at 210 ml about 3.5 boxes. One 400 g box holds about 91 level scoops of 4.4 g — roughly 18 bottles of 150 ml, or about 92 fl oz in total.
This is the most predictable stage to plan for. Milk volumes have largely plateaued by ten months and solid food is carrying a real share of the diet, so pick the row that matches the bottle size you actually use and you will be close.

How do you prepare Holle Goat Stage 3?
Boil fresh water and let it cool to about 50°C, pour the measured water into a sterilised bottle first, add one level 4.4 g scoop for every 30 ml of water — 5 scoops to a 150 ml bottle — shake to dissolve, cool to body temperature and feed within one hour.

Sterilise everything
Wash and sterilise the bottle, teat, ring and cap, and wash your hands before you start.

Boil and cool
Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to about 50°C, the temperature Holle specifies on the box.

Water into the bottle first
Pour the measured water into the sterilised bottle before you add any powder — never the other way round.

Add one level 4.4 g scoop for every 30 ml of water — 5 scoops to a 150 ml bottle — levelling each one, never packed or heaped.

Put the cap on and shake well until the powder has completely dissolved with no lumps left.

A diagnosed allergy needs an extensively hydrolysed or amino-acid formula prescribed by your doctor. For an unsettled baby with no diagnosis, goat formula is a reasonable gentler option to try.
