What is HiPP Stage 3 Bio Combiotik?
HiPP Stage 3 Bio Combiotik is a German organic follow-on formula for babies from the tenth month, made from organic skimmed milk with a live probiotic culture and GOS prebiotic fibre. One box is 600 g — about 153 fl oz of prepared formula, roughly 30 bottles of 5 oz.
By ten months the bottle is no longer the main event. HiPP labels this stage ab dem 10. Monat · altersgerecht sättigend — from the tenth month, filling in a way appropriate to the age — and positions it as support during the move to a varied family diet rather than as your baby's principal source of calories.
The Combiotik system runs all the way to the end of the line: GOS prebiotic fibre made from organic lactose, paired with the live probiotic culture Lactobacillus fermentum hereditum. Each 100ml carries 77 mg calcium, 1 mg iron and 13.6 mg DHA — the nutrients that a toddler diet of bread, fruit and whatever ends up on the floor can be short of.
It is EU Organic certified under the German control code DE-ÖKO-001, and there is no added sugar — the sweetness is the milk's own lactose. It is not Demeter certified; that tier belongs to Holle.

What does Combiotik mean in HiPP Stage 3 Bio Combiotik?
Combiotik is HiPP's name for putting a prebiotic and a probiotic in the same box. The prebiotic is GOS — galacto-oligosaccharide fibre made from organic lactose. The probiotic is Lactobacillus fermentum hereditum, a live lactic acid culture originally found in breast milk. The fibre is the food; the culture is the organism that feeds on it.
It is worth knowing that HiPP keeps the culture in right to the end of the range, which not every brand does. Holle Stage 3 carries neither a prebiotic nor a live culture. HiPP's own Dutch Stage 3 keeps both. If you have been buying the German line for the Combiotik system, nothing is dropped when you move up to this box.
A word on what this does not mean. Prebiotic fibre and live cultures are not a treatment for colic, reflux or a diagnosed allergy, and no formula should be sold as one. If your baby has a medical feeding problem, ask your paediatrician about a hydrolysed or specialist formula instead.

What is not in HiPP Stage 3 Bio Combiotik?
HiPP Stage 3's ingredient list carries no maltodextrin, no corn syrup and no soy oil — the oils are palm, rapeseed and sunflower — and no sugar is added; the sweetness is the milk's own lactose. Being straight about the rest: it does contain organic starch, which is what makes a Stage 3 bottle thicker and more filling, along with palm oil from certified sustainable sources.

German HiPP Stage 3 is the direct continuation of German Stage 2 — same recipe family, same Combiotik pairing, same 600 g box. Holle Stage 3 is Demeter biodynamic certified and uses maltodextrin alongside its starch. HiPP's own Dutch Stage 3 is lactose-only with no starch at all, and comes in a larger 800 g can.

Being straight with you: Holle Stage 3 carries Demeter biodynamic certification, a stricter tier than EU Organic, and HiPP has never claimed it. And if starch is the thing you want to avoid, the honest answer is that our own HiPP Dutch Stage 3 is the better buy — lactose-only, no starch, and an 800 g can rather than a 600 g box, which usually works out cheaper per prepared ounce. The German box's case is continuity: if your baby is already drinking German Stage 2, this changes nothing except the number on the front.
How many boxes of formula will my baby need per month?
One 600 g box of HiPP Stage 3 makes about 153 fl oz of prepared formula, roughly 30 bottles of 5 oz. Working from HiPP's own feeding table for this stage, a baby from ten months uses about 2 boxes a month at 150ml servings, and about 3 boxes a month at 210ml servings.
This is the stage where the number stops being predictable. By ten months most babies take a meaningful share of their calories from solid food, so milk volumes vary far more from one baby to the next than they did at Stage 1. You will see higher figures published elsewhere — around five boxes a month — but those assume formula is still the main source of nutrition. We have used HiPP's feeding table instead, and we would rather show you where the number comes from than print a confident one.

How do you prepare HiPP Stage 3 Bio Combiotik?
Sterilise the bottle, boil fresh water and let it cool to 40–50°C, pour the measured water in first, then add one level scoop of powder for every 30ml of water, shake for about 15 seconds, cool to around 37°C, test a drop on your wrist, and discard anything left one hour after your baby starts drinking.

Sterilise everything
Wash your hands, then sterilise the bottle, teat, cap and ring before every single feed.

Boil and cool the water
Boil fresh drinking water, then let it cool to 40–50°C (104–122°F), the temperature HiPP's own label specifies.

Water into the bottle first
Pour the measured water into the sterilised bottle before you add any powder — never the other way round.

Add level scoops
Add one level scoop of powder for every 30ml of water, using the scoop supplied and levelling it against the edge of the box. Never heap a scoop.

Cap and shake
Close the bottle and shake for about 15 seconds, until no powder is left clinging to the sides.

Cool, test, feed
Cool to about 37°C (98.6°F), test a drop on the inside of your wrist, and discard anything left one hour after your baby starts drinking.

Please read before buying
HiPP Stage 3 contains cow's milk protein, whey, lactose and fish oil. It is not suitable for babies with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy or a fish allergy, and it is not a hypoallergenic formula. This is a follow-on formula for babies from the tenth month, not a first infant milk. Breastfeeding is best for your baby — talk to your health visitor or doctor before starting or changing a formula.
Store boxes in a cool, dry place. Once opened, use within about 21 days. Never reheat or microwave prepared formula.
Stage 3, or straight to toddler milk?
Stage 3 is a bridge rather than a requirement — HiPP positions it as support while your baby moves toward a varied diet, not as their main source of calories. HiPP Kindermilch 1+ is the toddler milk that follows, from the first birthday. Ask your paediatrician what suits your baby.

What age is HiPP Stage 3 for?
From the tenth month. The German box reads ab dem 10. Monat, and this is the last follow-on stage before HiPP's Kindermilch toddler milks, which start at the first birthday. It is not suitable for younger babies — a six-to-ten-month-old needs HiPP Stage 2, and a baby under six months needs Stage 1 or PRE.
Does my baby actually need Stage 3?
Not necessarily, and it is worth saying so plainly. HiPP positions Stage 3 as support during the transition to a varied family diet rather than as your baby's main source of nutrition. Plenty of babies move from Stage 2 straight onto toddler milk or a full mixed diet. Your paediatrician is the right person to ask about your own baby.
Does HiPP Stage 3 contain added sugar?
No. HiPP Stage 3 has no added sugar. The carbohydrate is lactose — the sugar that occurs naturally in milk — together with organic starch. Lactose is not classed as an added sugar, and it is the same carbohydrate that dominates breast milk. There is also no maltodextrin and no corn syrup on the ingredient list.

HiPP's Kindermilch 1+ toddler milk, from the first birthday, is the next step in the German range, followed by Kindermilch 2+ from two years. Many families instead move to whole cow's milk with meals once their child is one, which is also perfectly normal. Discuss the timing with your health visitor or paediatrician.
