What is Kendamil Goat Stage 2 formula?
Kendamil Goat Stage 2 is a British goat milk follow-on formula for babies from 6 to 12 months, made from whole A2 goat milk, with no palm oil, no fish oil and no maltodextrin. This listing is a single 800g tin — about 209 fl oz of prepared formula, roughly 41 five-ounce bottles.
What separates it from most goat milk baby formula on the shelf is the starting material. Most formulas begin by stripping the natural fat out of milk and adding vegetable oils back in to hit the fat target. Kendamil starts with whole goat milk and leaves the natural milk fat in place — which is why the milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) survives into the tin.
Goat milk is naturally rich in A2 beta-casein, the protein type that forms softer, smaller curds during digestion. For a baby who seems gassy or unsettled on a standard cow's milk formula without a diagnosed allergy, this is often the gentler step parents try before anything medical. Plenty of families arrive here at six months rather than at birth, when starting solids upsets a digestion that was fine before.
It is made in Kendal, in the English Lake District, by the only British-owned formula manufacturer, using milk from grass-fed herds on small local farms. A follow-on milk is designed to sit alongside solid food rather than replace it: from six months your baby's iron stores from birth are running down and two or three small meals a day are covering part of the intake, so the protein and mineral balance shifts to match.
This is the middle step. Before it comes Kendamil Goat Stage 1 for birth to six months; after it, at twelve months, comes Kendamil Goat Stage 3 toddler milk. It can be combined with breastfeeding at any point.
What's in Kendamil Goat Stage 2 per 100ml?
Prepared as directed, every 100ml provides 66 kcal, 3.4g fat, 1.4g protein, 44mg calcium and about 15mg DHA sourced from microalgae. The prebiotic is GOS at 0.23g per 100ml, and the carbohydrate is lactose — there is no maltodextrin, starch or added sugar, and no HMO.

| Calcium | 44 mg |
| DHA (from microalgae) | ~15 mg |
| Prebiotic (GOS) | 0.23 g |
| HMO | None |
Kendamil does not publish a carbohydrate figure per 100ml for this tin in the sources we check, so we send you to the panel on your tin rather than print a number we have not verified.
The ingredient deck opens with whole goat milk and demineralised goat whey powder, followed by a sunflower, coconut and rapeseed oil blend, galacto-oligosaccharides and lactose. The DHA comes from Schizochytrium microalgae oil and the ARA from Mortierella alpina, so there is no fish oil anywhere in the tin. Nucleotides, taurine, choline and the full EU-mandated vitamin and mineral spread complete the recipe. Allergen: milk.
One claim we will not stretch: Kendamil's cow-milk Bio Nature line is HMO-fortified at this stage, and the goat line is not. Kendamil Goat Stage 2 relies on a GOS prebiotic only. If human milk oligosaccharides are what you are shopping for, this is not the tin for it.
Why is Kendamil Goat Stage 2 made from whole milk instead of skimmed milk?
Because the fat is where the milk fat globule membrane lives. Kendamil builds this formula on whole goat milk and keeps its natural fat in place, rather than skimming the milk and rebuilding the fat from vegetable oils — which is how most infant formula, goat or cow, is made.
Skimming is not done to harm anything; it is done because a fat blend you build yourself is easier to standardise than one that arrives in the milk. But the membrane that wraps each natural fat globule — a layer of phospholipids and proteins — does not survive that process. Starting from whole goat milk is slower and costs more, and it is the single clearest reason to pay a premium for this tin.

Is goat milk formula easier to digest than cow's milk formula?
Goat milk is predominantly A2 beta-casein, while conventional cow's milk carries a mix of A1 and A2. A2 protein forms a softer, smaller curd in the stomach, and that curd structure is the named mechanism behind the gentler-digestion claim — not a vague promise of comfort.
Kendamil points to three peer-reviewed papers for this positioning: Kay and colleagues in the Journal of Nutrition (2021) and Jianqin and colleagues in Nutrition Journal (2016) on A1 versus A2 protein, and Gallier and colleagues in Nutrients (2020) on goat MFGM.
What that means in practice is narrow and worth being clear about. This is a formula for a baby with a mild cow's milk sensitivity — fussy, gassy, unsettled — not a treatment for a diagnosed allergy. Goat protein is closely related to cow protein, so it is not hypoallergenic and it is not a medical formula. If your baby has a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy, you need a prescribed formula, not this one.
At six to twelve months there is a second thing going on that is easy to blame on the milk: solid food. Constipation, wind and changed nappies are extremely common when weaning starts, and they often have nothing to do with the formula. Give a new food a few days before concluding the milk is the problem.
Position 67 is the single amino-acid difference between the two protein variants. It changes how the chain breaks down during digestion, and with it how the curd sets.

What is not in Kendamil Goat Stage 2?
No palm oil, no fish oil, no soy, no maltodextrin, no corn syrup and no added sugar. The DHA comes from microalgae rather than fish, which makes the formula vegetarian friendly, and the only carbohydrate is lactose. Kendamil Goat is not organic certified — see the comparison below if that matters to you.

How does Kendamil Goat Stage 2 compare to Holle Goat Stage 2 and Jovie Goat Stage 2?
All three are European whole goat milk follow-on formulas with no palm oil. Kendamil Goat is the only one of the three that is not organic certified, but it is also the only one with both a lactose-only carbohydrate system and vegetarian algae-sourced DHA. Holle adds Demeter biodynamic certification; Jovie adds Halal and Kosher certification.

Being straight with you: if an organic certificate is your priority, this is the wrong tin and we will not pretend otherwise. Holle Goat Stage 2 (Dutch) is certified twice over, EU Organic and Demeter biodynamic, the strictest farming tier in Europe — though it introduces maltodextrin and starch at this stage, and its label covers 6 to 10 months rather than the full year. Jovie Goat Stage 2 is EU Organic, Halal and Kosher certified with lactose-only carbohydrate and a confirmed iron step-up, but its DHA comes from fish oil, so it is not vegetarian. All three are the same 800 g tin size, which makes price comparison straightforward for once. We stock all three. Kendamil Goat's real advantages are the whole-milk base with MFGM, vegetarian algae DHA, lactose-only carbohydrate and British manufacture — not certification.
How many tins of formula will my baby need per month?
A formula-fed baby between 6 and 12 months uses roughly 2 to 3 tins of Kendamil Goat Stage 2 per month. One 800g tin makes about 209 fl oz, or 41 bottles of 5 fl oz each — fewer tins than the same baby needed at Stage 1, because solid food is now covering part of the day.
That drop surprises most parents, and it keeps going: monthly formula use peaks just before six months and falls steadily from there through the toddler years. The bars below show the whole Kendamil Goat ladder so you can plan past this tin.
Estimates for exclusive formula feeding. Every baby feeds differently — use these for planning, not as a target. Kendamil publishes feeding volumes rather than a total yield per tin for this stage, so the fl oz figure is an estimate from the same 800 g fill weight as Stage 1.
How do you prepare Kendamil Goat Stage 2?
Boil fresh water and let it cool for no more than 30 minutes so it stays at least 70°C, pour the measured water into a sterilised bottle first, then add one level scoop per 30ml of water, shake to dissolve, cool to body temperature and feed within one hour.
Sterilise everything
Wash and sterilise the bottle, teat, ring and cap, and wash your hands before you start.
Boil and cool
Boil fresh drinking water and leave it to cool for no more than 30 minutes, so it stays at least 70°C.
Water into the bottle first
Pour the measured water into the sterilised bottle before you add any powder — never the other way round.
Add level scoops
Add one level scoop for every 30ml of water, using only the scoop supplied in this tin and levelling each one with the back of a clean knife.
Cap and shake
Put the cap on and shake well for about ten seconds until the powder has fully dissolved.
Cool, test, feed
Cool the bottle under running water, test a drop on your wrist so it feels body temperature, and feed straight away.
A note on water temperature. Kendamil specifies water at 70°C or hotter, which matches NHS and WHO guidance for powdered formula — powder is not sterile, and that temperature kills bacteria that can occasionally be present. Let the bottle cool to body temperature before feeding, and always test a drop on the inside of your wrist first.

This formula is not suitable for babies with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy. Goat milk protein is closely related to cow milk protein, the two commonly cross-react, and this product is made on shared lines that also handle cow milk. Goat formula is not a treatment for an allergy — a diagnosed allergy needs a formula prescribed by your doctor. Follow-on milk is only for babies over six months. Breastfeeding is best for your baby — talk to your health visitor or doctor before starting or changing a formula.
Store tins in a cool, dry place. Once opened, use within one month. Never reheat or microwave prepared formula.
Packaging & tins
Kendamil tins are made of very thin metal and dent easily under pressure in transit. A dent in the outer tin does not affect the sealed powder inside. If a seal is ever broken or the powder looks or smells wrong, do not use it — message us and we will replace it.
Kendamil Goat Stage 2: frequently asked questions
What age is Kendamil Goat Stage 2 formula for?
Kendamil Goat Stage 2 is a follow-on milk for babies from 6 to 12 months. It is designed to be used alongside solid food rather than as a sole source of nutrition, and it should not be given to a baby under six months. Before six months your baby needs a first infant milk such as Kendamil Goat Stage 1, and at twelve months you would move to a Stage 3 toddler milk.
Can I use goat milk formula if my baby has a cow's milk allergy?
No. Kendamil Goat is not suitable for babies with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy, and goat formula is not a treatment for one. Goat milk protein is structurally very similar to cow milk protein, so cross-reactivity is common, and this formula is manufactured on shared lines that may leave traces of cow milk protein. A diagnosed allergy needs a prescribed hypoallergenic or amino-acid formula from your doctor.
Is Kendamil Goat Stage 2 organic?
No. Kendamil's goat milk range is not organically certified at any stage, and we would rather say so plainly than let the word natural do the work. Kendamil's cow-milk Bio Nature and Organic lines are certified organic, and both Holle's and Jovie's goat ranges are EU Organic certified, with Holle adding Demeter biodynamic certification on top. If organic certification is what you are shopping for, one of those is the better fit.
Does Kendamil Goat Stage 2 contain HMOs?
No. Kendamil Goat Stage 2 uses a GOS prebiotic at 0.23g per 100ml and contains no human milk oligosaccharide. Kendamil does add HMO to some tins in its range, including the cow-milk Bio Nature follow-on milk and its own Goat Stage 3 toddler milk, but not to this one. If HMO fortification is your priority at six months, this is not the tin for it.
Do I have to switch my baby to Stage 2 at six months?
No. A first infant milk remains nutritionally suitable for the whole first year, and there is no requirement to move to a follow-on milk at all. Many parents do switch because the protein and mineral balance is adjusted for a baby who is also eating, and because iron stores from birth are running low around six months. Finish the tin you are on, then move over gradually across several days.
Does Kendamil Goat Stage 2 contain fish oil or palm oil?
Neither. The DHA comes from Schizochytrium microalgae oil rather than fish oil, and the ARA comes from Mortierella alpina, which makes the formula suitable for vegetarian families. There is no palm oil in the fat blend, which uses sunflower, coconut and rapeseed oils instead. There is also no soy, no maltodextrin, no corn syrup and no added sugar.
How much prepared formula does one 800g tin make?
One 800g tin of Kendamil Goat Stage 2 makes approximately 209 fluid ounces of prepared formula, roughly 41 bottles of 5 fl oz each. Kendamil publishes feeding volumes rather than a total yield for this stage, so treat that as an estimate based on the same 800g fill weight as Stage 1. For planning, a baby between six and twelve months uses about 2 to 3 tins per month.
What formula comes after Kendamil Goat Stage 2?
Kendamil Goat Stage 3 is the toddler milk, designed for children from 12 months to 3 years, and it is the one stage of the goat range that is HMO-fortified. There is no need to switch on your baby's first birthday, and most parents finish the tin they are on first. Move between stages gradually over several days, and speak to your health visitor if you are unsure.
