Single 800g Tin · UK Version

What is Kendamil Goat Stage 3 toddler milk?

Kendamil Goat Stage 3 is a British goat milk toddler formula for children from 12 to 36 months, made from whole A2 goat milk, with no palm oil, no fish oil and no maltodextrin. This listing is a single 800g tin — about 120 fl oz of prepared milk, roughly 24 five-ounce servings.

This is a growing-up milk, not an infant formula. Your toddler's main nutrition now comes from the table, and this is a top-up for the gaps a fussy phase leaves behind — iron, calcium, vitamin D and omega-3 — given as one or two drinks a day alongside food. It is prepared in fewer, larger, more concentrated servings than an infant formula, which is why one tin covers fewer fluid ounces than the same 800g at Stage 1 or 2.

What separates it from most goat milk baby formula on the shelf is the starting material. Most formulas begin by stripping the natural fat out of milk and adding vegetable oils back in to hit the fat target. Kendamil starts with whole goat milk and leaves the natural milk fat in place — which is why the milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) survives into the tin. It is made in Kendal, in the English Lake District, by the only British-owned formula manufacturer.

Goat milk is naturally rich in A2 beta-casein, the protein type that forms softer, smaller curds during digestion. That is why families whose toddler is unsettled on ordinary cow's milk, without a diagnosed allergy, often end up here. This stage is also the one point in Kendamil's goat range that is HMO-fortified — Stages 1 and 2 use a GOS prebiotic alone, and Stage 3 adds human milk oligosaccharides on top. It is a real formulation step up, not a relabel.

It sits at the end of the feeding journey. Before it comes Kendamil Goat Stage 2 for 6 to 12 months. After it, most children move on to plain milk and a varied diet. It can still be combined with breastfeeding, and many toddlers take it in an open or straw cup rather than a bottle.

What's in Kendamil Goat Stage 3 per 100ml?

Prepared as directed, every 100ml provides 65 kcal, 2.9g fat, 1.8g protein, 7.8g carbohydrate, 107mg calcium, 1mg iron and 8.5mg DHA sourced from microalgae. The prebiotics are GOS and human milk oligosaccharides, and the carbohydrate is lactose — there is no maltodextrin, starch or added sugar.

The shape of a toddler milk is deliberately different from an infant formula: more protein, more calcium, more iron and less fat. At Stage 1 the milk is doing all the work; here it is topping up a diet that already includes meat, eggs, pulses and vegetables, and the fortification targets the nutrients toddlers most often fall short on. Calcium at 107mg and iron at 1mg per 100ml are both substantially higher than the same brand's first infant milk.

The ingredient deck opens with whole goat milk, demineralised whey powder and lactose, followed by a sunflower, coconut and rapeseed oil blend and galacto-oligosaccharides. The DHA comes from Schizochytrium microalgae oil, so there is no fish oil anywhere in the tin and the formula is suitable for vegetarian families. This stage is additionally certified Halal and Kosher. Allergen: milk.

How it's made

Why is Kendamil Goat Stage 3 made from whole milk instead of skimmed milk?

Because the fat is where the milk fat globule membrane lives. Kendamil builds this formula on whole goat milk and keeps its natural fat in place, rather than skimming the milk and rebuilding the fat from vegetable oils — which is how most growing-up milk, goat or cow, is made.

Skimming is not done to harm anything; it is done because a fat blend you build yourself is easier to standardise than one that arrives in the milk. But the membrane that wraps each natural fat globule — a layer of phospholipids and proteins — does not survive that process. On a toddler milk, where the alternative is a bottle of plain milk from the shop, starting from whole milk is a large part of why this tin exists at all.

Digestion

Is goat milk easier for a toddler to digest than cow's milk?

Goat milk is predominantly A2 beta-casein, while conventional cow's milk carries a mix of A1 and A2. A2 protein forms a softer, smaller curd in the stomach, and that curd structure is the named mechanism behind the gentler-digestion claim — not a vague promise of comfort.

Kendamil points to three peer-reviewed papers for this positioning: Kay and colleagues in the Journal of Nutrition (2021) and Jianqin and colleagues in Nutrition Journal (2016) on A1 versus A2 protein, and Gallier and colleagues in Nutrients (2020) on goat MFGM.

What that means in practice is narrow and worth being clear about. This is a milk for a toddler with a mild cow's milk sensitivity — windy, uncomfortable, off their food after a cup of ordinary milk — not a treatment for a diagnosed allergy. Goat protein is closely related to cow protein, so it is not hypoallergenic and it is not a medical product. If your child has a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy, you need a formula prescribed by your doctor, not this one.

proline 67
A1 beta-casein · conventional cow milk

Position 67 is the single amino-acid difference between the two protein variants. It changes how the chain breaks down during digestion, and with it how the curd sets.

What is not in Kendamil Goat Stage 3?

No palm oil, no fish oil, no soy, no maltodextrin, no starch and no added sugar. The DHA comes from microalgae rather than fish, which makes the formula vegetarian friendly, and lactose is the only carbohydrate. This stage is Halal and Kosher certified. Kendamil Goat is not organic certified — see the comparison below if that matters to you.

Comparison

How does Kendamil Goat Stage 3 compare to Kendamil Organic Stage 3 and Jovie Goat Stage 3?

Kendamil Goat Stage 3 is the only one of the three with A2 goat protein, added HMO and Halal and Kosher certification together — and the only one of the three that is not organic certified. Kendamil Organic Stage 3 keeps its organic seal to 36 months. Jovie is EU Organic and Halal and Kosher, but its DHA comes from fish oil.

Being straight with you: if an organic certificate is your priority, this is the wrong tin and we will not pretend otherwise. Kendamil Organic Stage 3 is the same brand, the same whole-milk philosophy and the same palm-oil-free recipe, and it keeps Soil Association organic certification plus Red Tractor assurance all the way to 36 months — it is simply cow's milk rather than goat, and it has no HMO. Jovie Goat Stage 3 is EU Organic, Halal and Kosher with no palm or coconut oil, though its DHA is fish-sourced so it is not vegetarian. All three are 800 g tins, so price comparison is straightforward. Kendamil Goat Stage 3's real advantages are the A2 whole-goat-milk base with MFGM, HMO fortification at this stage, vegetarian algae DHA and Halal and Kosher certification — not organic certification.

Planning ahead

How many tins of toddler milk will my child need per month?

A toddler on one or two milk drinks a day uses roughly 2 tins of Kendamil Goat Stage 3 per month. One 800g tin makes about 120 fl oz, or 24 servings of 5 fl oz — fewer ounces than the same weight of infant formula, because toddler milk is mixed in larger, more concentrated servings.

Monthly use is at its lowest here, and that is by design: milk is now a top-up rather than a meal. The bars below show the whole Kendamil Goat ladder so you can see how much your monthly spend has come down since the newborn weeks.

Estimates only. Every child drinks differently, and a toddler eating well may need less than this. Use these for planning, not as a target.

Preparation

How do you prepare Kendamil Goat Stage 3?

Boil fresh water and let it cool for no more than 30 minutes so it stays at least 70°C, pour the measured water into a clean bottle or cup first, then add the number of level scoops your tin's feeding chart gives for your toddler's age, shake to dissolve, cool to a comfortable temperature and use within one hour.

1

Clean everything

Wash and sterilise the bottle or cup, lid and teat, and wash your hands before you start.

2

Boil and cool

Boil fresh drinking water and leave it to cool for no more than 30 minutes, so it stays at least 70°C.

3

Water into the cup first

Pour the measured water into the clean bottle or cup before you add any powder — never the other way round.

4

Add level scoops

Add the number of level scoops shown on your tin's feeding chart for your toddler's age, using only the scoop supplied and levelling each one with the back of a clean knife.

5

Cap and shake

Put the lid on and shake well for about ten seconds until the powder has fully dissolved.

6

Cool, test, serve

Cool the drink, test a drop on your wrist so it feels comfortably warm, and serve straight away — many toddlers take this in an open or straw cup rather than a bottle.

Never use artificially softened water or water that has been boiled more than once. Prepare a fresh bottle for every feed, never reheat, never microwave, and discard anything left 1 hour after your baby starts drinking.

A note on water temperature. Kendamil specifies water at 70°C or hotter, which matches NHS and WHO guidance for powdered formula — powder is not sterile, and that temperature kills bacteria that can occasionally be present. Let the bottle cool to body temperature before feeding, and always test a drop on the inside of your wrist first.

Please read before buying

Toddler milk is a supplement to a varied diet, not a replacement for food, and it is not needed by every child. This formula is not suitable for children with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy. Goat milk protein is closely related to cow milk protein, the two commonly cross-react, and this product is made on shared lines that also handle cow milk — goat formula is not a treatment for an allergy, and a diagnosed allergy needs a formula prescribed by your doctor. Breastfeeding is best for your baby — talk to your health visitor or doctor before starting or changing a formula.

Store tins in a cool, dry place. Once opened, use within one month. Never reheat or microwave prepared milk.

Packaging & tins

Kendamil tins are made of very thin metal and dent easily under pressure in transit. A dent in the outer tin does not affect the sealed powder inside. If a seal is ever broken or the powder looks or smells wrong, do not use it — message us and we will replace it.

Questions parents ask

Kendamil Goat Stage 3: frequently asked questions

What age is Kendamil Goat Stage 3 toddler milk for?

Kendamil Goat Stage 3 is a growing-up milk for children from 12 months to 3 years. It is designed as a nutritional top-up alongside a varied diet of solid food, not as a sole source of nutrition and not as a replacement for meals. The stage before it is Kendamil Goat Stage 2 follow-on milk for 6 to 12 months. After 3 years most children drink plain milk.

Why give goat toddler milk instead of ordinary cow's milk at 12 months?

Plain cow's milk is a perfectly good drink for most toddlers and is cheaper. A growing-up milk is fortified with iron, calcium, vitamin D and DHA in amounts plain milk does not supply, which helps a child who eats a narrow diet. The goat version adds a second reason: goat milk is predominantly A2 beta-casein, which forms softer curds, so toddlers who seem windy or uncomfortable on ordinary cow's milk often settle better on it.

Does Kendamil Goat Stage 3 contain HMOs?

Yes, and this is the only stage of Kendamil's goat range that does. Stages 1 and 2 rely on a GOS prebiotic alone; Stage 3 adds human milk oligosaccharides on top of the GOS. It is a genuine formulation change at 12 months rather than a marketing relabel, and it is one of the clearest reasons to move up a stage rather than staying on Goat Stage 2 past your child's first birthday.

Is Kendamil Goat Stage 3 organic?

No. Kendamil's goat milk range is not organically certified at any stage, and we would rather say so plainly than let the word natural do the work. Kendamil's cow-milk Organic and Bio Nature lines are certified organic, and Jovie's goat toddler milk is EU Organic certified. If organic certification is what you are shopping for, one of those is the better fit. This tin is, however, certified Halal and Kosher and is suitable for vegetarians.

Can I use goat milk formula if my child has a cow's milk allergy?

No. Kendamil Goat is not suitable for a child with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy, and goat formula is not a treatment for one. Goat milk protein is structurally very similar to cow milk protein, so cross-reactivity is common, and this formula is manufactured on shared lines that may leave traces of cow milk protein. A diagnosed allergy needs a formula prescribed by your doctor.

How much prepared milk does one 800g tin make?

One 800g tin of Kendamil Goat Stage 3 makes approximately 120 fluid ounces of prepared milk, roughly 24 servings of 5 fl oz. That is fewer ounces than the same weight of infant formula because toddler milk is mixed in larger, more concentrated servings with more scoops per bottle. For planning, a toddler having one or two drinks a day uses about 2 tins per month.

Does Kendamil Goat Stage 3 contain fish oil or palm oil?

Neither. The DHA comes from Schizochytrium microalgae oil rather than fish oil, which makes the formula suitable for vegetarian families and is a genuine point of difference from goat toddler milks that use fish-sourced DHA. There is no palm oil in the fat blend, which uses sunflower, coconut and rapeseed oils instead. There is also no soy, no maltodextrin, no starch and no added sugar.

How is Stage 3 different from Kendamil Goat Stage 2?

Three things change. The prebiotic system gains human milk oligosaccharides alongside GOS. The nutrient balance shifts towards a toddler who is eating meals, with more protein, much more calcium and more iron but less fat per 100ml. And the serving pattern changes: fewer, larger, more concentrated drinks, often from a cup rather than a bottle, which is why a tin covers fewer total ounces.
